Longford / Mary Cassidy
« on: Friday 09 August 13 10:04 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Recently (thanks to a rootschat member) discovered the maiden name of my great grandmother which nobody in the family knew and this is what was found. In fact not much is known about her.

A marriage Samuel Alexander / Mary Cassidy 1916 Govan Lanark

Also a death Mary Alexander(other surname Cassidy) 1929 Lanark , born c1894.

Since then I have been looking for more information.

My problem is finding out where Mary Cassidy was born. I been looking on Scotlandspeople.com and I am losing the battle.

Any help much appreciated,

Fran

England / Re: Rosanna Clarke/Clark,Morgan O'neil son James O'neil

Hi Fran,

Could you be  more specific and clear with your information as I am getting confused - which is quite easy for me  ::)

I can see a death for a James Morgan O'Neil which corresponds to a birth in 1941.
This birth- James M O'Neil has a mother Clarke and there are several children who I won't name because they could still be living.
There is a marriage which may be the parents of these children in 1931 in Gateshead
James O'Neil and Margaret Clarke.
Are these people anything to do with your search.
If so then it would presumably be this James who came from Ireland and who you want to find out about.
Are you saying that his parents are Morgan O'Neil and Rosanna Clarke?
Have you got an approximate year of birth for the James you are interested in?

regards
heywood

Hi heywood,

Thank you, no sorry I was in a bit of a rush and didn't get a chance to check what I'd written oops.  ???

Yes,wow that could be the right James O'neil and Maragret.

What I have mentions a Rosanna Clarke and Morgan as the parents of James. Yes and James is who I want to find out about.

I am not sure about a birth year for James,I will look into everything and see.

Thank you very much,

Fran

Hello,

I am looking into the family of my Grandmother and I am keen to know more about her father's parents. I have been told that Rosanna Clarke/Clark,Morgan O'neil son James O'neil came to Sunderland about 1920 and that James was a young boy at that time.

I have found a few links with James but I would like to know more about Rosanna Clarke/Clark,Morgan O'neil.

Any help much appreciated,

Lanarkshire / Re: Parents of Frances Alexander

Hi,

Thank you very much :),I have been trying to find the name of his mother and getting nowhere. I know most of his siblings moved to Melbourne,Australia apart from one sister Mae who I know lived in Manchester. I have been told that my grandfather often said that he was the youngest but he also told other family members his brother Cecil was. Cecil went missing in New Zeland after he left ship in 1950 and was never heard from again.

Thanks again,

Francesca

Catholic Baptism most likely as Fathers name is in Latin;
CATHERINE Burns, Christened 29 April 1900, Gateshead, Durham
Birth 03 April 1900
Parents PATRITII Burns and ELIZABETH LAIDLER Burns

Marriage Reg in Northumberland;
March 1900, Newcastle T, 10b 144
Patrick BURNS/Elizabeth Jane LAIDLER
+
MARIA ALICIA, Christened 05 Feb 1905, Birth 10 Jan 1905 (Mary  Alice in 1911 Census)

Nearly didnt make the Marriage before Catherine was born!

Marriage Cert will confirm Fathers names/occp's.

Trish :)

EDIT 1891 Elizabeths Parents may be Thomas H and Catherine
1871 he is under Thos H Laidler born c 1846 Newcastle upon Tyne
Annie Barnes, Sister of Catherine is with them
Marriage on FreeBMD 1869 has him as Thomas Hall Laidler (someone has added a postem on there)

FreeBMD also has a Thomas Hall Laidler Marriage June 1867 to Jane CHAMBERS, so Catherine may be a second Wife.
A Death Reg in Durham Sept 1867 for a JANE Laidler age 29 is likely her.

Wow,I can't thank you enough.  I was getting so stuck. I'm off to investigate.

Thanks again,

Fran
