Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: Trying to find a grave location
« on: Thursday 18 August 22 09:02 BST (UK)  »
Thank you Nell, that is the document that I found as well. I did not feel it indicated a location. My dilemma is that he worked on the Wiston Estate and could well be buried there. His wife is in the cemetery a short distance away from Wiston. The head stone reads in large letters Elizabeth Maple (then very small letters) the widow of  (large letters)Moses Maple.

The grave is so filthy it was hard to depict and I wrongly assumed that they were both there.

I tried Find a Grave again but as before zero results.

Thank you for your help.

Evening all, today I had the gravestone cleaned of my gt gt grandparents. I believed they were both in this grave but now that I can read the stone they clearly are not!
I am trying to find out where Moses Maple who died in July 1856, aged 38 was buried. The burial took place on 31st July 1856 in Wiston. The problem I have, is was it St Mary, Wiston on the Wiston Park Estate or All Saints Buncton where his wife is buried, she died 28 years later. The only good clue I have is the curate was R Payne. Various 'Find a grave' sites are returning zero results.
Thank you for your help and advice

Thank you, yes I really was not sure about this. I really thought there was a way. I have seen sites re: who lived in my house in 19...... I just seem to be going around in circles at the moment. I really would like to find out who this person was.

Denbighshire / J.W Griffiths did he live at 5 Grove Road, Colwyn Bay in 1939?

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help. I recently purchased my grandfathers death certificate. I was surprised to see J.W. Griffiths (Cousin) of 5 Grove Road, Colwyn Bay, present at death. I have put immense work into trying to find out who this person is without success. I was hoping to look at a 1939 electoral roll for that property, but need to do it by property and not person. I have scrolled through many many Griffiths on the electoral roll but not found one at this address.

I have researched all my grandfather's uncles, male children but having no leads so far.

Has anyone tried to get a historic Will? I would be interested to know what you all think. I was thinking of getting my grandfathers Will (if he had one of course) He died in 1937 and he did have his own business. He was 47 at the time of death. I have the probate record which I got from Ancestry. Has anyone else done this?

Thank you, your information is very useful. I have come across this many times already where there is no gravestone but have been lucky enough to find a plot. Thank you for your help I will look into the link that you have provided.

Much appreciated.

Hello and yes, sorry my post was in the wrong section. I was using my mobile phone and the Rootschat really is not easy on there, so back to the PC.

Thank you, I did think it was All Saints from the outset. As I have said there appears to be no record as I have had it looked ito by the vicar of that church. I appreciate that there just must be records but how do I get them if the vicar has looked and cannot find anything. I want a grave number although I am thinking it is very possible that there is not a stone.

Thank you for your help ;)
