Thank you very much for taking the time to look for me.

Hi I was hoping there may be people out there who can help me sort out a family dilema.

My second great grand uncle GEORGE DAW born 1848/49 in Wellington, Somerset, as I am led to believe jumped ship in Canada whilst serving in the Royal Navy.

The last time I can find reference to him is on the 1861 census in Wellington with his parents.

No sign at all on 1871.

The story goes that after he jumped ship he changed his surname to Dawson to avoid detection and then a few years later reverted to Daw.

But I cannot find any more on the old boy.

If someone has the means to find out when he joined the Royal Navy and also if possible what ship he was on when he deserted so to speak, I will be eternally grateful

Somerset Lookup Requests / I need help with my Daw's of Wellington
« on: Wednesday 15 June 05 22:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone

I am trying to find more information on the siblings of my 3* Great Grandfather William Daw, he and his siblings were all born in Wellington St John.

Here is what I know.

Their father George Daw was born in 1778 but where exactly I do not  know. He was christened 5.1.1780 in Wellington. And his parents were called George and Mary (5*Great Grandparents)

George married Susanna Snook 22.6.1804 in Wellington and had the following children.

*Elizabeth b 29.4.1805
*Sarah b 19.5.1807
*Mary b 25.11.1809
Susanna b 9.1.1813 d 1822
*Harriet b 19.3.1815
*George b 15.9.1818
&William b 16.9.1822 (My 3* G Grandfather)

Susanna Snook died 6.2.1830 and George then married Mary Ann Harris in Wellington and they had the following children

*Thomas b 2.5.1831
Frederick b 9.5.1832 d 10.10.1841
Eliza b 8.9.1833 (Had iligit son James b 1852, & in Bristol on 1861 Census)
*Samuel b 8.1.1835
*Ann b 6.9.1836 (1861 shows lodging in Wellington)
*Jane b 1840
*Mary b 27.3.1841 (1861 in Bristol with mother, cant find on 1871)

All those with * I know nothing except in the ()'s, if anyone can find out if they married or their death dates I would be most appreciative.

Also if anyone can find the birth and/or death of George Daw (b1778) as Mary Ann Harris is listed as a widow on 1861.

And finally on his parents George and Mary, can anyone find their marriage, but I believe it may not be in Wellington, but somewhere else not too far away.

I have really searched 1861 census quite hard for them all and have very little success.

Thanks alot in advance to anyone who can help me in my search.

Canada / Help
« on: Tuesday 17 May 05 18:01 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out what ships and departure ports were used by some rellies emigrating to Canada, can anybody shed some light on this for me.

In around 1831/1832 Joseph Totton b1788 Armagh, his wife Maria and their children James and Annie. Went to Kings County, N.B.

Also there is a William Curren born 1815 in Fermanagh who emigrated to St. John, NB between 1832 and 1834

Not that I know much but considering where they were born, would Liverpool be the departure area.

If anyone has the ability to find this out, or point me in the right direction it will be greatly appreciated.

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Thomas Thompson c1780 Alnwick
« on: Saturday 30 April 05 20:18 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone do me a big favour.

I am trying to find the birth of a Thomas Thompson in Alnwick.

He married an Ann Stalker 5.5.1805 in Chatton, Northumberland, where it mentions he is from Alnwick, his son Thomas Jnr was born in Shoreswood 11.2.1810.

So would somebody be kind enough to do a look up for a Thomas Thompson born in Alnwick, he would have been born in the 1780's I would have thought.

I am trying to get the date of birth, christening and parents names pretty please

A most grateful Snoop Doggie

« on: Monday 25 April 05 22:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi there I am trying to help a freind in the US.

He has asked me if I can find any info on the following people from the Northumberland area.

Thomas Thompson born 11.2.1810 Shoreswood, Norham.

Then any information on his parents.

Thomas Snr born c1780, Northumberland who married Ann Staker? 5/5/1805.

They had two other children other than Thomas Jnr that they know of James b1816 and William b1824

If anyone can get birth dates and death dates of parents, and Thomas Jnrs siblings and whether there were more than the two and if any of them married.

My relly in New Hampshire will be most appreciative.
