Derbyshire / Joseph Hartley in West Hallam
« on: Tuesday 23 November 10 09:33 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for further information about Joseph Hartley (b 1860 in Spinkhill) who was a Colliery Engineer and lived at Newdigate St.,  West Hallam in 1911. Does anyone know where and when he died as I have been unable to find his death certificate?

Has anyone any information about the ironmongers shop and lodging house business that William Richards and his wife Sophia ran on Eldon Street, Tuxford, Notts from about 1856 until their deaths around 1900. William was a tinman and brazier by trade.

Some of the Admissions and Discharges registers for the Chesterfield workhouse still exist in the Derbyshire Records Office at  Matlock. I don't know whether they cover the period you are interested in. They might tell you whether they left the workhouse and when.

Yes we do. Indeed we are planning to take our grandchildren to the Workhouse to show them where Hannah and the children went.
We have done a lot of research on John and Hannah and their children and would be happy to share this with you if it is of interest.
Where we have drawn a blank is the birth and parentage of John who married Martha in Laneham. Have you had any more success here?
We would be interested to know about John's brother William from whom you are descended.

John and Martha were my 4 times great grandparents! My line goes down through George and Mary, John and Hannah. How about you?

Larkspur  - Antcliffs in Laneham, East Markham, Kneesall and Bathley - sounds familiar!
Are you by any chance researching the offspring of John Antcliff who married Martha Taylor in Laneham on 6th July 1749?
