Hi

I'd be really grateful for a look up for this family in 1841, and I thought it better to bump this old request rather than post a new one.

Just to refresh, I'm looking for the following family

Robert Diamond born about 1805 in Pitminster
Ann Diamond born about 1805 (or possibly earlier) in Bishopshull
John Diamond born about 1826, Wilton
William Diamond born about 1828, Wilton
Robert Diamond born about 1831, Wilton

They are most likely going to be in Wilton as the sons were born there and the family was there in 1851 (kindly found for me by Debbie - Thanks again for that).

Sometimes their name was recorded as Dimond or even Dimind, but most often the spelling is Diamond

Thanks

Caro

A note for Kris

I've found a marriage for a Joseph Harvey and a Hester Ball in Bedminster Registration district (which included Backwell) in 1836 (found in some online parish records).

I've also found a burial in Backwell  for a Hester Harvey, aged 26, in 1843.

As seems likely we are on the right track.  Thanks once again for your help - having details of that family in 1841 was a real break through.  I've so many leads to follow up now I don't know which to start with!

You have done look ups for me in the past though, before tonight.  I'm very grateful to you.

Rootschat is great - I make sure that I do more looks up for others than I ask for myself.  I'll have to nip over the Glamorgan board now to payback what you've done for me tonight. ;-)

When I get chance I'm going to do a search on here for  a few more of my brickwall names to check if anyone else has posted about them on roots chat!  You never know.

Hi again Kris

Yes I think you have looked for these before, for someone else. I found some old requests earlier this evening after I posted this one.  I'm now in touch with the person who made them and hopefully once we've pooled resources, together with what you found for me tonight we might be able to get back a further generation.  I've had the info on the family once they were in Wales for some time so I wish I'd seen the earlier requests sooner but then again if I had I wouldn't have asked for a look up tonight and you wouldn't have found what you did!  ;D

I hate being stuck just one side of a century - I want to get my Harvey's back to the 1700s!

A brother called Samuel is interesting.  I have a possible brother for Joseph called Samuel as James born 1841 is lodging with a Samuel Harvey born circa 1814 in 1861.  I also recall seeing a Samuel born Nailsea circa 1837 ish in Monmouth in 1861 (which is where Joseph was in 1861).  So I've loads of leads to go on now.  I've very chuffed.

Just as well I can't sleep  ;)

Hi Kris

That is also very useful.  It fits in very well with my theory that the mother of Charles and James died somewhere between 1841 and 1855

It's likely that the boys were put into the workhouse until their father could support them again (or until they could support themselves).

That is definitely the two boys I'm looking for in 1851 and I think the family you found in 1841 is also theirs. (Charles being born the year after the census).

Also Esther is a family name - so the Hester from 1841 fits nicely.

What I'm trying to do though is find a definite link between James and Charles to a Joseph Harvey, born Nailsea circa 1808 who was in Monmouthshire in 1861 and in Cardiff from 1871  - 1891.  I know that James and Charles' Father was definitely called Joseph (from marriage certificates) and they were both in Cardiff by 1868 as they both married there that year.  Joseph was also in Cardiff by 1865 as his son George was born there that year.

I really needed to find James and Charles with their father in 1851, but even though I didn't, your find in 1841 gives me a few more leads to go on to try and prove the link

Thanks again.  I really appreciate it.

Caro

I'd be very grateful for a look up of Joseph Harvey born either Congresbury or Nailsea circa 1808.  He may be widowed or he may be married to a woman named Elizabeth.  It's most likely he is in the Backwell or Nailsea area in 1851.  His occupation is most likely to be Labourer.

Possibly amongst any children in his household will be a James Harvey born circa 1841 and a Charles Harvey born circa 1843.

Thanks

It  turns out that Neat and I do have Harvey ancestors in common.  Hopefully once we pool information we may be able to get back another generation or two.

Caro :)

Hi again Neat

I couldn't find another James Harvey in the 1871 census, but I will have another look - I was interested as my Harvey ancestors were living in Canton at that time.

In fact from what you wrote regarding James's father being called Joseph and that there was a Nailsea connection it could be that your Harvey's and mine are connected.

I have a Joseph Harvey born about 1810 in Nailsea, Somerset in  my tree. (A 3 x Great Grandfather).  That Joseph Harvey was living in Canton at the time of the 1871 census.  In 1861 he had been in Monmouthshire - I don't have him in the 1851.

I've sent you a PM with my email addy - let me know if you think there may be connection.

Regards

Caro
