When it's a cremation it's sometimes possible to get an earlier date by opting for an unpopular time, eg earliest one of the day. I've been to several funerals in the last few years where the cremation has already taken place without ceremony.

My Premium subscription expires on 21 January, so the deals don't work for me, just take me to my account.
So I rang up to beg for a discount.  The very polite and efficient lady advised that I needed to wait until my sub had expired and then call again, quoting the case number which she proceeded to give me. She has promised me a 50% discount recorded on the file, so hopefully that will be applied when I call again to renew.  ;D

Hope this works out and is offered to all, as it would be very useful for elimination purposes.  I'm still trying to kill off a 3x gt grandfather with a common name ;D

You shouldn't post a whole certificate - it is copyright!
You should instead post a snippet (using the Windows tool?) of the relevant parts.

This is what GRO say about copyright and PDF certificate copies. I can't see that reproduction of paper copies would be any different? It says that the only problems with copying or publishing a certificate are that it must not be done in an attempt to pass it off as the original certificate, and that the GDPRA 2018 applies to certificates containing information about living people

Q7. Are the PDFs subject to any copyright?

"They are covered by Crown Copyright and whilst it is an offence to make a copy of a
certificate and pass it off as the original certificate you are welcome to copy, publish
or use the information they contain including in the form of a PDF.

"However, if they contain information relating to living individuals then the provisions
of the General Data Protection Regulation Act 2018, Data Protection Act 2018 and
the Human Rights Act 1998 will apply. You should bear that in mind if you were to
(for example) publish or display a copy of the image you have received from us if it
contained information about living individuals, as you would need their permission to
do so."

I've been trying to tell people this for years.  You can post all of the detail on a certificate.  Just don't post the entire document as it takes up too much space, use something like the snipping tool to crop out the written part.  No need to restrict it to a "snippet", especially if you're asking for help deciphering a word.

I have just had an email offering me half price Premium membership for £59.99. I could have contacted them to see if I could upgrade, but I am happy without the Worldwide bit. I haven't used that part half as much as other areas. So I am rather happy now  :)

Had you just let your sub lapse?
When cancelling and they ask why, I always tick the "can't afford it" box.

Mine expires later this month and I've cancelled.  I'm only after Premium membership so if there aren't any deals floating around I'll give them a ring and see what they offer.  I've done that in the distant past before we had the magic link, and found them to be amenable, so fingers crossed.

Some years ago I started a topic about local Register Offices and which ones supplied scans of the original certificates.  It was intended to gather people's experiences of various ROs and I had hoped it would become a pinned topic as it would have been a useful reference resource.  Quite a few members contributed to it.

Inexplicably it was closed by a moderator and thus sank into oblivion.

I would add that not all local ROs send a photocopy of the original image.
Many are just handwritten copies written out by the current staff.  It depends on the condition of the original register, the facilities available, or willingness I guess.

The 1921 census has revealed an example of this.

The village doctor, whom my grandmother often used to mention, had three sons, all of whom were given the same first name as himself - Ernest.  They had different middle names.
