Merionethshire / Gwalia House, Harlech
« on: Monday 24 July 17 16:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi I've tried looking for this strand of the family before but with no luck. My great grandmother Jennett Williams was born in 1864 in Llandanwg / Harlech. She had siblings called Robert Williams 1861, Samuel Williams 1867, Margaret A Williams 1869, Kate S Williams 1872 and Griffith Williams 1874. Their parents were Griffith and Catherine Williams born 1836.
Samuel Williams lived at Gwalia House in Harlech but went to live to the Ffestiniog area before he died. His brother Griffith Jones Williams died in Harlech October 1950 and was a builder.
Samuel had 3 children Griffith born 1893, Ann Jane Williams 1901 and Catherine Williams 1906.His brother Griffith also had 3 children Trevor Wynne Williams 1906, Owen Watkin Williams 1908 and Emrys Griffith Williams 1910.
If anyone knows anything about the family I would be very grateful.

No all I had from the marriage certificate was the name of his father John Roberts deceased. Same with John Roberts marriage stating that his father was John Roberts!! The tradition of using same names in families is a nightmare when trying to trace ancestry

Ann in 1911 was in Salford where she was staying at 10 Lieveseley Street with a family. She was sent there after family found she was pregnant. I saw someone in Criccieth as a maid in 1901 which made sense. In 1901 ive got Robert Griffith Roberts living at 165 Selborne Street, Toxteth, Liverpool which makes sense due to him working with Blue Funnel. I cant find him in 1911 but he might be out of the country? No idea where John Roberts is in 1901 but as you stated he was back with his mum in 1911.

Will try again to show family I consider to be nearest. Theres a John Roberts (senior) who was married to Jane Roberts and living in Criccieth in 1871 census. They had a daughter Ann 9, John born in 1864 and Margret 5. I might be clutching at straws but considering John Roberts (younger) then calls his eldest daughter Ann do you think these might be the ones? Any opinions grateful received!

I would say that is the Ellen but no mention of the children? They seem to have an issue with giving right age for census!  Thanks Gadget will have a look at that. Might have to accept a dead end with these due to both father and son being John Roberts
