Hi,

I have just obtained my husband's grandfather's death certificate. It says he died of gun shot wounds to the head and was a patient of The Ministry of Pensions at Chapel Allerton. No one in the family knows his military no. or regt. (In fact some of the family thought he was actually in a mining accident). I have looked on The National Archives website and there appears to be three possibilities for his regt. Is there any other way to find out more about him.

His name was Alfred Yeoman's and he died 1st April 1927

Thank you and regards

Hi all,

I have 2 problems and hope you can help me.

First Robert Davies born 1861-1865 in Corwen, Wales - I'm struggling to find him on on the 1841 census. This is causing me problems going back another generation. I think his parents may be David and Margaret but not 100% convinced. Robert was initially a coachman (so assuming he may of been in service) then by 1881 becomes a car proprietor, which brings me on to my second problem. Is there anywhere he would be registered as a car proprietor and if so where would I start looking

If anyone has any ideas which will help me to move forward, I would be very grateful

Regards

Hi all,

Yes have looked at the IGI and SearchPilot and Beta with no luck. I will try the Genuki site, thank you for this. She married Thomas Howden at St Peter & Paul, Sheffield. I'm just really stuck on going further back. perhaps this Genuki will show the way. Fingers crossed and all that

Hi all,

I am trying to trace my ggg grandmothers baptism. I know from the census's she was born in Plymouth circa 1809, but that is all I know. Does anyone know where she may of been baptised so that I can find out who her parents were.

Many thanks

Hi KathB,

My thought that it may be him is because he was married at GB, even though he was living at Little Leigh throughout his life. I think his daughter Catherine is buried with him as I have also just found her burial at GB. They died within month's of each other, so I'm now quite keen to ascertain if it is them. I know Joseph was still Licensee in 1834. Sarah remarried in 1839 (a Thomas Lees and continued to be Licensee at the Horns Inn, incidentally her uncle Daniel Massey supposedly turned the Horns Inn from a house into the pub as we know it.) So yes please if I can take you up on your kind offer. He was married to Sarah Massey and his parents were Thomas Walker and Margaret Speakman. If you could look up the deaths for Joseph and Catherine perhaps I will get a bit more info than I have at the moment. I do wonder if they both had the same illness. I shall have to look into that next I suppose.

Thank you in advance for your help

Regards

Alison
