Oxfordshire / James & Emma Ayers
« on: Thursday 20 May 10 17:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am looking for the maiden name or any marriage info of Emma married to James Ayres. I have found the Ayres family living in West Hill Henley Oxford 1881 census PRO ref RG11 1487/94 pg 22 they also appear in the 1871 & 1891 census on ancestry site. The family appear to have all come from Henley. The son Walter is my wife’s G Grandfather.
Would appreciate any help

Regards

Would anybody have any information on these premises taken from the 1881 census

Carlton Road 42
London, Middlesex, England

It looks as if it may be a convent as there is a Mother superior and Sisters of Mercy at this address. The head of the household is a Phillip D Jacobs a Glass Merchant.
My reason for asking is that a relation was employed there at this time her name was Martha Neal born in Cholsey Berkshire in 1860
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi B17_fan

Dont know to much about the farm but live very close to the area.

South Ham takes its name from what was once the major farm in the area, South Ham farm, which was demolished in the early 1960s. Parts of the area were developed for Council Housing.

I will have a word with a friend who was born close by.

Family History Beginners Board / Re: Boxing trophy for E Ayers

Thanks Les & Wilcoxon.

Not sure if he was in the army, will have to dig deeper. I believe he boxed for the MET police at some as he was policeman until he was hit by a car and lost both his legs and spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

The inscription on trophy is quite specific.
N.F of B&B. S&S. I can only assume it was some national federation club of sorts. The date is also specific.  19th March 1921(not the 10th)
