Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / 1891 look up request Watts in Sheffield
« on: Monday 10 October 05 20:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi - been away for a bit but got the bug again  :D

I've found my GG Grandparents in the 1901 census, they are Thomas (44 years) and Eliza (33 years) Watts shown at 6h24ct Attercliffe Rd Sheffield. Thomas is shown as a labourer in iron works and blind in one eye, along with Rose (14 years) and Thomas (11 years).

Could someone have a shufty on the 1891 census for me please?

Hi

Could someone have a look for a John Douglass born about 1864 for me?

He married a Mary Dunn who was originally from Ireland although I don't know when. She was born in 1867.

John was a fisherman.

Thanks in advance.

Matt  :)

Nottinghamshire / cemeteries in Greasley?
« on: Thursday 05 May 05 18:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi all  :)

My Great Grandfather James Dial NAYLOR was buried on the 11th March 1927 in Greasley, Notts.

Unfortunately I don't know whereabouts and wondered if anyone with a bit of local knowledge could tell me how many cemeteries I might be looking at?

Thanks

Matt

Hi all

I'm struggling and looking for some guidance  :)

My Great Grandfather, John Douglass who was from Amble, Northumberland was lost at sea from a trawler on 27/12/1930 off the Dogger Bank.

He was born in or around 1864.

Any ideas where I could locate a death certificate for him  ???

Armed Forces / Grandad in The Royal Engineers
« on: Friday 29 April 05 16:01 BST (UK)  »
hello all  :)

This seems a friendly forum and I'm just getting started in my family history research so please be patient with me!

My paternal grandfather Thomas Naylor (Bn 31/03/01 Castleford - Died 04 May 1953) apparantly served in The Royal Engineers at the tail end of WW1. I found out from a relative that his Army Prayer book had been sent to the Royal Engineers Museum. I contacted them and they very kindly copied it for me which revealed his 'rank' was:

Sapper Thomas Naylor
1857944
58th Porton Coy R.E.
Porton Nr Salisbury
Wiltshire

Aside from the fact that his age doesn't sound right to me to have served in WWI - can anyone suggest where I go from here? I'd like to obtain his service record although I understand that many WWI records were destroyed in WWII. I don't know how long he served in the Army...

Thanks

Matt
