« on: Sunday 17 July 11 07:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi Adam,

I would love to see some photos of the Nixon's ... I can try to help you with any information you require.  One thing that I noticed is I have a slightly different birth date for John Nixon.  I have John Nixon B 1907, Broughton - M Mary Storr Mar 31 1841 Broughton - D Nov 22 1894 Broughton - Burial Nov 26 18894 Broughton  ....I might be wrong in my date, Kristin (Nutkin) should be able to confirm that for you.

Kind Regards,
Sharon.

Hello
I am researching Joseph Teakle who married Mary in Horsley, Glouc before emmigrating to Australia on the Navarino in 1837.  In particular, I would like to know when Joseph and Mary married and what Mary's maiden name was.
thank you.
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn
Joseph and Mary Teakle are my husbands 4x GGrandparents.  He is from Emma Teakle's lineage.

Hi there,

I have Teakles and Burfords in my tree (my husband is directly descended from them).  I have had trouble matching up all their relationships as well, but I think I am nearly there.  They are from:
George Teakle & Ruth Evans - Alexander, Enoch, Mary, Hannah, Samuel Axon, Joseph, David, Ephriam, Keziah and Sarah
Henry Burford & Ruth Baker - Zilpah, Jabez, Henry & Thomas
These are the direct ancestors, but I do have other Burfords who have 'joined' the tree via a marriage.

MMmm..
I am having problems with this couple.

 ::)

I am not persuaded MARY ANN and MARY JANE ( both married to JOHN ANGOVE) are the same person.

Newspaper items constantly allude to children of Mary JANE and JOHN whose births I cannot quite find ::)

Will continue the combing :-\

Sue

ADDING

There is CRYSTAL St. in Broken Hill. ;D

I think both couples were from Moonta originally!  Children were born there to both couples!

Thank you  for this but there seems to be two couples around -  John & Mary Jane Angove  AND a John & Mary Ann Angove  ...  just to add a touch of confusion!

Sharon,

Maybe your John & family in Cornwall.

A John Angove died in NSW in 1903 with parents Josiah and Eleanor.

Angove John
1903
New South Wales
F" Josiah.
M: Eleanor.
Reg District: Parramatta NSW.
Reg  #11282.

Merlin has identified a marriage in Redruth Cornwall in 1863.

This could be John on the 1841 England Census.

Registration District: Redruth.
Sub District: Illogan
Illogan Municipal Ward:
Address: Illogan Down, Illogan,  County: Cornwall

Josiah Angove M 36 , born,  Cornwall
Eleanor Angove F 35, born,   Cornwall
Josiah Angove M 7, born,  Cornwall
Caroline Angove F 6, born,  Cornwall
Johnson Angove M 4, born, Cornwall
John Angove M 1, born,  Cornwall

John would be around the correct age, living at Redruth with father Josiah & mother Eleanor.  Just a theory.

Gerry

Thankyou Gerry, I have confirmed that this is the correct family.  Thank you for your help and also for the death information of Josiah in Qld as this is definately a brother!

WOW thank you everyone ... if I wasn't confused before I am NOW!

(Pearl) Emily Angove is 2x great grandmother.  I have her vital details.  Since my post I have discovered that her mother (Elizabeth Ann Angove) entered the Destitute Asylum in Adelaide in 1889, where she had Emily.  Elizabeth's residence was put as from Broken Hill, so sometime between 1876 and 1889 I assume the whole family moved to Broken Hill.  Elizabeth abandoned Emily in the Asylum several times so Emily was eventually placed in the Industrial School at Magill when she was 17 months old.
In looking at the Cornish records, there were at least three John And Mary Angove marriages so I might give the Cornish part a miss at this time.
Finding where they were in SA and  Broken Hill is the go at the moment.  I have copied all the info relating to these places that you have all given me (THANK YOU).  I wonder if it is the same family in Moonta?

Thanks again,
Sharon.

Australia / ANGOVE John and Mary - SA & NSW
« on: Thursday 17 February 11 12:20 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help me with this family.
John 36 and Mary 35 ANGOVE arrived with their 3 children Mary 11, Elizabeth Ann 7 and John 2 on the Forfarshire 1/9/1876 in Port Adelaide SA.
Elizabeth had an illegitimate child (Pearl) Emily Angove 21/12/1889 in Adelaide.  She abandoned Emily on two occasions when she was just over 1 years old. There are great descriptions of ELizabeth in the Police Gazettes.  Emily was placed in the Industrial School Magill, till she was fostered by Dr Frank Sandland Hone.
Elizabeth ended up in the Destitute Asylum in 1889, where I don't know what happened to her.
I think John and Mary left for NSW in 1889.  John could have been an Engineer.
I have no information on where in the UK they were from, or what happened to them in Australia.

Does anyone have any information.
Sharon.
