Surrey / Find a Grave Benhilton Area of Sutton
« on: Tuesday 22 February 22 23:24 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the grave of Emma Harriet Keeley who died on 3rd April 1901, aged 32. She was living at 242a High Street, Benhilton, Sutton at the time of death. Her death entry says she was buried on 9th April 1901. I have been in touch with the vicar at All Saints, Benhilton and there are no records. He suggests the parish of All Saints which could be Sutton Cemetery. I have used 'Find a Grave' with no results. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated 😊

The Common Room / Re: Cyril Finch Keeley, West Sussex - need help please.

Thank you all for your help, I had seen some of this but as has already been suggested is it the same one. It must be I suppose so I will work on that. Thank you for the correction on Emma's place of birth. A transcribing error no doubt on the site I was looking at as that is where I got it from. Just checked, Stalisfield does exist but is in Kent, even so she was from Spitalfield.
I must get a look at the picture, I should see some resemblance as he was my grandfather's older brother. Thank you all once again

The Common Room / Cyril Finch Keeley, West Sussex - need help please.

I am researching this gentleman and I know his father was John Robert Keeley (1869 Earlsfield, Surrey-1953 Edgeware, London) and his mother Emma Harriet Arlidge (1868 Stalisfield, London - 1901 Sutton, Surrey) Cyril was also born in Earlsfield, Surrey on 29 July 1894. He married Edith A M Winchester in Battle, Sussex in 1936. I see that he was a Merchant Seaman on 1911 census and was living in Worthing, West Sussex. I cannot find any more on this man. With a name distinct like Cyril Finch Keeley I did not expect too much of a problem. I cannot even find a death for him or any children. Unusual for me to be so stumped. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Thank you Stephen Nulty for your efforts, very kind of you indeed. Young John Griffiths is actually my fathers brother. My father became an only child. I look like my mother and we (I have 5 brothers and sisters) are so keen to see a picture of Grandma for many reasons.

Thank you also aghadowey for your insight into times when my grandparents would have married. My grandfather was a successful business man and owned his own home so I would like to think (albeit hopeful) that they did have someone taking pictures. Thak you both for your replies, much appreciated. Jane

Thank you. I believe in the power of positive thinking and if you want something enough you will get it. Like trying to sell something, it only takes just one person to want that item. For me someone may just have one and I believe they do, they just don't know yet that I would like a copy. :)

This is a real long shot but I am still desperate to have a photograph of this lady. I have contacted relatives with no success on my mission, but I refuse to give up. There must be one somewhere. Margaret married John William Griffiths on 31st January 1914 at St Mary the Virgin Church, Prescot. She was living at 38 Queens Rd, Prescot at the time of her death and prior to that 12 Ward Street. The daughter of James Mercer and Mary Emma Rogers. The biggest event would have course have been the wedding. This lady was my grandmother and I really would love to be able to see what she looked like. She died when my father was 5 months old. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I am struggling to find a birth entry for John Hodgkin and also details of his parents. I have that he was born 1794 in Edenham, Lincs. He married Martha Dickensen (not finding too much on Martha either :( ) in 1815 in Grantham and had 3 children Sara, Jane and Edith. Any help in the right direction would be much appreciated  :)
