I knew this was going to be tricky LOL. I have the Boer war record for a Gustav Nilson who lists his next of kin as being his sister Josephine Clark (my Great grandmother ?) and his address as being Tokatoka. What makes me think this is the right person is that my Greatgrandfather Robert McKenzie Clark's (Jospehines husband) family were from Tokatoka.
The same with the Boer War record for George Oscar Nilson - he too came from Tokatoka and lists his next of kin as being  his sister  Miss Annie Nilson.
I did at some stage , somewhere ?? :'( on line find some record of Nilsons farming in the Piopio area and I vaguely remember family talk about this too
Thanks Mackiwi and Janette, will follow up the land office records and those variations on names  :-\  :-\

New Zealand Completed Requests / NILSON settled in PIoPio and /or Tokatoka

Josephine Marie NILSON  born in Wellington(1877) was my maternal Great grandmother, she married Robert McKenzie CLARK (1862 – 1907). I have been able to find little info on the NILSONS other than that Josephine's parents were Annie Maria JOHANNSON and John NILSON.  These names seem to be quite common , so am having difficulty ascertaining which ones were her parents.  I think Josephines siblings may have been Gustav, George Oscar and Annie NILSON.
Anyone know of this family?

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: looking for grandfather James SIMS
« on: Monday 03 January 11 08:55 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you so very very much everyone who has gone out of their way and  posted so much help and information to me on this topic.  I live in Australia now so the search has been extra tricky. Alfred, Doris and Evelyn Frogley were indeed dad's half siblings and I have memories of these people as a child but didnt realise they were not full brothers and sisters until now.
The Wellington Cemetery records will be invaluable as will the Royal Navy site. I have located the possible birth records  for James on Ancestry but again not sure which one is correct yet. The search goes on and it looks like this brickwall may be starting to crumble

Are any of you researching this family yourselves or have you all just been extrodinarily helpful to me?

Would anyone have any information on James Sims. According to my fathers birth certificate James was born in Hardwick Gloucestershire 1895,  and was in the Royal Navy. James was my grandfather and married Isabella Emma Parmenter Jones. My father (*) was born in Wellington in 1923. Isabella had previously married to Alfred W Frogley. I know virtually nothing about my grandparents having never met them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have had no luck with Ancestry re James but have been able to research the Frogleys with some success.
