Thanks Gaffy,
Fascinating stuff. Do you know what newspaper?
John Murphy Jnr died in 1898 aged 68 so was born around 1930.
Have three great grandmothers all maiden names Murphy so get stumped sometimes. And one of those Murphy's married a Murphy.

Thanks Daithi,
I seen that trade directory for 1850 and also some  Thom's Directories up to 1859 that shows a John Murphy Victualler at 19 Camden st.
So maybe John senior died just before the 1858 marriage, maybe Thom's 1859 directory information was ready to print.
No records indicate that John Jnr was ever a victualler.Have some of his children's birth certificates and all list him as a car/cab owner or a dairyman.
His wife Julia died 1880  following childbirth and John died around 1898 he had a dairy at 61 Synge Street at that time.
The Diary remained in family hands until the 1930s until their son George Murphy died at 61 Synge street.
Think I'll check glasnevin deaths up to 1859. Else I've exhausted this Murphy line.

Anybody know anything about a John Murphy (a Victualler) of 19 Lower Camden Street. Dublin. His Son also John married a Julia Farrell. I have their marriage record but would love to know more about John Senior (Victualler). Think he died between 1857 and 1864.

Thanks for all the replies.
Denis Farrell's father is Morgan Farrell.
Also Denis Farrell is listed as a godfather to one of John and Julia's  children.
think i can presume that Pelagai/Morgan are variations of the same name.
Morgan Farrell's wife was Rosanna(?White)so Denis must have named his child after his mother.
thanks so much for all the replies. Anybody have any links to these Families

Dublin / Pelagai or Morgan Farrell Cuffe St Dublin
« on: Wednesday 23 July 14 22:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I came across the marriage cert of my great great grandparents John Murphy & Julia Farrell in 1858 at St Nicholas of Myra Church Dublin.
Marriage cert states her father is called PELAGAI Farrell
Anybody ever hear of this name.
Anyway came across a man called Morgan Farrell also from Cuffe Street.
apparently Pelagia means from the sea and Morgan means from the sea.

Do you think the priest who done the marriage tried to 'latinise' the name Morgan?

John and Julia went on to have many children one of them called Morgan. Their children's godparents seem to be sons of Morgan Farrell so I'm certain of the link.
Julia also had a brother called Morgan Farrell.
Morgan Farrell senior lived to a good age.
His death notice in the Freemans Journal asked that Australian and American papers should take note.

Anybody related to the Farrells of Cuffe Street or the Murphys of Synge street. All Diarymen!

So glad that a few of you went yesterday. Glad I posted the link now.

I didn't even know Goldenbridge Cemetery existed until about 6-7 weeks ago. I searched the (expensive) Glasnevin website. I found that my GGGparents were buried in Goldenbridge.  Their name was Patterson.
Hope there is a gravestone I believe it's near the canal wall.

I think Open House was held last year too. So hopefully it will be an annual event
Unfortunately I couldn't make it yesterday I had a little girls 5th birthday party to attend.
Hope to make a visit soon.
If anyone knows when it is open again please post as I would love to go some Saturday.

Hi Eoin, thanks for posting the picture. She was very pretty wasn't she. She would be my fathers grand aunt. Her brother Michael Is my dad's grandfather. However he died before my father was born. So my dad has no knowledge of him. Michael Barry died on the 21st November 1929 at Harolds X hospice. His address is given as 41 Chamber Street. He was 57 years old.
I will email you some stuff next week or so! Just need to pull out some papers and stuff.
I'm new to this site so can't pm yet. But I have your email address. Thanks Eoin I'll be in touch soon

I've just received a copy of my great great grandparent's marriage entry. John Barry and Catherine McGauran (sometimes McGovern) at St. Catherine's, Meath Street - Sept 15, 1866. Catherine's address given as 40 Chamber Street. Her father was Ml. McGauran, Labourer.
Hi Eoin,
These are also my great great grandparents.
John Barry was a son of Patrick Barry and Hannah Doyle of Charlotte Street.
Catherine McGauran(sometimes McGovern) was a daughter of Michael McGauran and Catherine Colclough!
John Barry died in 1898 in Drumcondra Hospital. At the time of his death he lived at Mill Street Dublin. His death was registered by Hannah Kelly - his daughter. I discovered a Hannah Barry married a Mr Kelly. Is this Hannah you great grandmother? She would be my great grandfathers sister. Hanna Barry born 1867. There was also other children Patrick and James.
My great grandfather was Michael Barry lived at Chamber Street.
