The Baptism records for both of his children state William's  occupation as 'mariner'.
I don't have access to the marriage record, but the banns say that he is a bachelor and she a spinster.

William was still alive in 1830, when he was a witness at the marriage between Thomas William Kitto and Mary Ann Hewlett, but I don't know when or where he died.

The information on birth date and possibility of a brother James, came from a single name study conducted by someone else. I have managed to confirm all other connections, leading to William and Ann Trindall, but can find nothing before them. The 'James' may or may not have been a brother, and all I know of him is that he was married to a Mary, and that they had a son James Samuel Kitto in 1809 in Dover Kent. But, as I say, there is no confirmation that James was William's brother.
William Kitto and Ann Trindall did have a Thomas William who married Mary Ann Hewlet, and their children were those listed above (My gg grandfather was their Thomas W Kitto).

Birth year may be wrong, but marriage to ANN TRINDALL in 1807 is definitely 'my' WILLIAM KITTO. He may have had a brother called James too.

Am trying to find information on a WILLIAM KITTO born c1785. He married an ANN TRINDALL in 1807, in the parish of 'St Paul, Deptford, Kent'. They had 2 children,  Thomas William Kitto b.1811 and Sarah Elizabeth Kitto b.1814, both born in Deptford. I know nothing else, so any information would be great! Especially anything that suggests who his parents were!
 :) All help appreciated!!

The connection between 'my' William Kitto and Captain Edward Kittoe came from a single name study that someone else had done. The information within that study has previously been very reliable and I have managed to confirm all of the connections from me to William Kitto b. 1788, so far. However, I am now doubting that 'my' William was the son of Captain Edward.

'My' William Kitto married an Ann Trindall in 1807 in the parish of St. Paul, Deptford, Kent.
They had 2 children that I know of, Thomas William Kitto b.1811 and Sarah Elizabeth Kitto b.1814

I can find no record of him apart from the marriage and children, so any other info would be great!! :)

I've now found that Ann Miller (previously Ann Witchell) who married Captain Edward Kittoe had 2 daughters by her previous marriage but no sons.

The William Kitto that I am trying to find parents of (Father probably Captain Edward Kittoe) was born c1788 and married an Ann Trindall in 1807 in 'St Paul, Deptford, Kent, England'.

Any info on him, his parentage, his life etc. would be much appreciated!!

Thank you! I am amazed that I spend so long against the brick wall, and then other people manage to find info in a matter of minutes!  :)
...However, I am now even more confused, as there may have been an even earlier marriage too! I think (although not sure) That Captain Edward had 2 children around 1788/1789ish James and William Kitto...Although I suppose that these could have been sons from Ann Miller's previous marriage, who then took the Kitto name too? Although they may have been a little old for that by 1802? Any further info/help would be much appreciated!!

Hi,
I have hit a stumbling block and would like some help locating info on the first marriage of a Captain Edward Kittoe (1768-1823). I have a record of a marriage between him and an Elizabeth Hayward in 1816, and records for a subsequent 2 children (Elizabeth and Edward Hooper Kittoe). But I believe that he may have had 2 sons born around 1788 (James and William Kitto), so I am assuming that there was a previous marriage, but I can find no record of the marriage or James and William's births. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
They may have been living in Kent (although not certain!)

Sutherland / Re: ANCESTORS OF JAMES MACKAY BORN 23 DEC 1829 Rogart,Sutherland.

I have had the same trouble with ancestors from Rogart. The Sutherlands, MacKays and Murrays all seem to marry each other and give their children the same first names. (It may just be my poor research skills, however!)

I can't help with your James MacKay, but I do have MacKays/Murrays and Sutherlands from 'Inchcape', Rogart in my tree... James MacKay (1799-1876) married to an Elizabeth Murray. They had a daughter Effy MacKay in 1829, who Married a Neil Sutherland in 1857.

I also have a Janet MacKay (b.1791) married to a James Sutherland (b.1781)
... Any connection to your tree??
