Hi - I was browsing on this site and came upon your info about a marriage between a Hugh Jones, Mallwyd & an Elizabeth Jones, same place. I believe that Elizabeth Jones could be a daughter of Richard & Jane Griffith, my 4x g.grandparents. The info I have on them is that Hugh Jones was a weaver, born abt. 1791 & Elizabeth same age. The earliest birth of any of their children I have found was a Jane Jones B. 1826, Thomas B. 1830, Wm. B. 1833 and a Mary B. 1837. They were living at Penybont from 1841-1871 according to the census.
I found a death date of Sept. 1873 for Elizabeth, age 83 and a death for Hugh 1871 age. 81.
Could this be the right family?  I sure hope so.

Hi - I realized afterwards that I made a mistake. From my research, I believe that Mary was the g.daughter of Mary Richard & Griffith Jones, daughter of Mary Griffith B. 1753 D. 1834-1844 and possibly Robert Griffith.
Hope this gets some results.
Thank you,
Johanson

Hi- I am wondering if anybody has done research on a Mary & Morgan Jones. I believe Mary was born 1785 to Mary Richard & Griffith Jones at Deunant, Mer. I found them on the 1841 Census at Dolgelly St. Lodge., C.P. Mallwyd - with children Mary Ann, Evan & Janes Jones. On the 1851 census they were at Allt ddu with Evan 7, Jane 4 and Morgan 2. I believe Morgan Jones d. 1868, 80 yrs.old and Mary d. June 1874 age 89 at Dolgelly. I also found a Simon Jones b. Apr. 1820 and in 1822 a Rowland Jones born.
The census shows Morgan as Oats Drier and Mary as a woolen spinner.
I am researching the Mary Richard & Griffith Jones family. Griffith died 1753 and Mary remarried to a William Richard/s.
Any info or suggestions would be most appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi Roger
It was me who posted that letter - thank you though for trying to help me. Going over old research, I did find a John Richards was owner/occupier of land in Mawddy in 1838 and also a Llanwddyn Tithe of 1843 - occupier was a John Richards of Glanrafon - now whether these are "my" John Richards, I don't know. Will have to keep searching.
Thanks again,
Catherine

Merionethshire Lookup Requests / Re: Griffith/Richard - Bala

I had Gwyneed office do a search of births for Richard & Jane Griffith and this is what they sent me:
Jane B. 1785 May 22
Elizabeth B. 1790 Mar. 15
Griffith B. 1792 Jul 24
William B. 1795
Evan B. 1798 (they didn't send me that one but I am very sure he is my 4x
                      grandfather).
I had found previously that a Griffith son of Richard & Jane was born Nov.1781 and was a burial June 1784 of a John Griffith (no age)- don't know if applies.
My info is that Richard Griffith & Jane Jones were married 1781 May 5.
As the only info I have for sure is a John Richard in Bala in 1844, I'm grasping for straws!!
Thank you for your interest

Merionethshire Lookup Requests / Griffith/Richard - Bala
« on: Saturday 09 June 12 18:50 BST (UK)  »
I am searching for any info on a John Richard or perhaps Griffith who was living in Bala in 1844. He was born to Richard & Jane Griffith in 1792 and that is the only info I have on him.
Have found a birth of 1 John Richard b. 1792 d. Bala Apr. 1869 and another one b. 1793, d 1871 at Bala.
Records show that a Griffith Griffith was born July 24 1792  in Llanymawddwy - could this be the right on and a change of name?
Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thank you

Have found 2 burials for a John Richards, Bala. One b. 1792, D. 1869 and the other b. 1793, D. 1871.
I am hoping he is the son of Richard & Jane Griffith who lived at Deunant, Mer.and brother to "my" Evan Richards b.1798.
I have no other info than he lived in Bala in 1844 and was mentioned in a will of my relates.
No wills could be found for either of them in this time frame.
Thank you, Catherine
