Crowlands is a small rural location North East of Ararat, Victoria, Australia.
Nearby is the small township of Landsborough.   St. Arnaud is just north of Landsborough, 1hours drive from Ararat.
Maryborough is North East of Ararat.
Woodlands was one of the first stations in the Western District of Victoria; a large station of 183,000 acres, on the Wimmera River at Crowlands. Owned by W.J.T. Clarke, they had at one time 29,000 sheep and 100 cattle, many people were employed here from the surrounding district. William worked here for some time.

We (The Ararat Genealogical Society) have been indexing the Ararat Hospital records which has some Swinnerton references if you are interested.

Technical Help / Re: useless !!!
« on: Thursday 29 April 10 10:16 BST (UK)  »
If your techie friend has installed an antivirus program on you PC.
It is already working for you, it found a 'virus' on you memory stick and dealt with it.
No your PC is not 'damaged'; the antivirus program is just doing what should do, protecting your Pc.

The antivirus program is probably 'running' in the background and this should check anything you 'stick' into your Pc ... like memory sticks, dvd disks, cd disks and possibly the old floppy disks if you still use them (and probably anything you download from the internet).

The antivirus program should update automatically from the 'internet' to keep your PC antivirus software 'up-to-date' with current virus problems.

It might pay you to go to the Kaspersky website and see what the program does with infected files. You might even already have a manual about the antivirus program installed on your Pc.
What you want to know is what the program does with the infected files, some have a 'virus vault'  where the files are 'sent to'.  It may tell you how to recover data from the infected files.

'Follow' where you have used your memory stick and you will probably find another PC infected with the same virus. (Work, School, friends PC etc.

General rule of thumb is always keeps a backup of your important files, so if your computer ever fails you, you will not lose your files.
