United States of America / Where Did He Die??
« on: Tuesday 11 April 06 19:00 BST (UK)  »
I have details of the death of a Rev. Richard Siebotham, I was given them as they form part of the Iosco County Gazette , Michigan his death was on 11/28/1908. Is there any register that would be able to tell me where he died or what from?? I ask this as family legend states he was murdered in Korea.

Hope someone can help
Many regards
Mark

Many thanks Grub for deciphering all this, from what I know of Richard I have been able to make out the 'Final Destination' as Fuson, Korea...so I assume he was in transit to there? If so do records exist for his exit from the US?....Indeed would he be listed as an arrival at Southampton on his outward journey?

I hope you can help as the final twist in the tail is that he was allegedly murdered in Korea in 1908 while doing missionary work, so it would be nice for me to find out as much as I can about him.

Many regards
Mark

US Lookup Requests / Shipping the Sidebothams
« on: Tuesday 11 April 06 14:47 BST (UK)  »
I hope SKS out there can help me with my questions...

Agnes1896 found for me a while ago an entry on the New York passenger lists as follows: arriving 5 sep 1883, departing Bristol, England, place of origin Bristol, Ship masted, port of arrival New York. Then the passenger/family that I am interested in are listed as such: Isabella Sidebotham, Wm Sidebotham, Chas Wm Sidebothan, Emily Sidebothan, Isabella Sidebothan, Rich H Sodebothan, Robert Sidebothan.

Can anyone tell me the name of the ship they came on?

Next question: while looking for arrivals for Ellis Island for 1907 and searching for Richard Henry Sidebotham age 32, his details appear but has anyone out there got full access to the rest of the information such as where the ship had come from, or any particular details about him??

I hope someone can help as this has proven a real family mystery so far.

Many thanks
Mark

US Completed Requests / Emily Baron Sidebotham
« on: Tuesday 28 February 06 11:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have a photo sent to family here in England which from and showing an old lady of approx 70 years, it has on the back of it 'Emily Baron Sidebotham' Sept 1944, Pasadena, California.

From what I know I believe she is the daughter of William & Isabella Sidebotham, her siblings would have been Richard and Isabella. William was a travelling preacher I believe, can anyone tell me if there are any records relating to this family going to the US, or if there are any descendants of Emily still around??

I hope some kind soul can help me

Regards
Mark

Janan, Thanks for the link, unfortunately I don't think it details the years I'd be thinking events such as marriages could have occurred in i.e. 1910's. As for the deaths, there is nothing when I search.

These sisters obviously existed, it's just we never knew about them!...any idea when the 1911 census will be out?!!!

Hope someone can come up with an answer to this poser:

My Grandfather James Bentley was born in Blackburn in 1890, he died in 1963...he had a brother John b1892 Blackburn, Lancs, also according to the 1901(when I had access to it) he also had two sisters namely Mary J Bentley b1889 Blackburn and Susan b1893 Blackburn. Here's the trouble....my Father states that James (his Father) never ever mentioned about the two sisters...it's as if they never existed. Is it possible that someone with access to marriage or death registers for the Blackburn area can solve this issue for me?....Please?

Thankyou in advance for all help given

Mark Bentley
