Hi    We dont know , untill i started to find out more on the   Margaret  Okeefe b 1870  ( this written on other members of the Gordon side his  brothers to Margarets husband whose  family  we dont know( Great uncles)  they have recorded Margaret Okeefe  b in Ireland .The family have only hearsay , I came across the court case 1904 papers past re her first child born out of wedlock  married her husband 2 yrs later   he was not the father   as  the family had been led to believe , the child had been put into care as a baby and then  claimed by  a local  tribe   and bought up  as their own renamed her  married her to their tribe   very sad ,The child never met her true family and they her but knew about her and believed she was stolen  in part it is true    she Margaret  and her husband in the court case stated they did not have the means to fight the case  they must have dropped the case. I found now   the name she was given by the Maori people  was not the name registered with . This has shaken the family  , 123 yrs later rewrite their grandmothers story of the 1st child .I  only came about having a detective   nose to suss out things The story i found by chance searching papers . and more fell into place . I have a copy of Margaret and Charles Gordon m cert gave the name of her parents .
I dont know where Thomas  was b Ireland or NZ   i need to research more on this .
Thanks so much for the help

Hi   My thoughts are Thomas     Okeefe  was born about 1873-5 as his sister Margaret was b 1870 came to NZ as a child about   3-4 yrs  i have found Edward OKeefe NZ Electorate  Rolls 1896  he is listed as a clerk   Auckland as well as  Mary OKeefe same year . In a court case 1904 Margaret( OKeefe )now Gordon  then aged 34yrs had said she was the only surviving member of her family , this must have meant that her family had all ready  gone back to Ireland.

I did realize on your post that  if the same Edward may have remarried ,  none of the Gordon family have any recollections of any others from this family of OKeefes here . There were many that came have checked these out. dates dont match

I dont think it is his daughter  as she is my husbands grandmother she m a Gordon in NZ .
i dont discount a 2nd wife either untill proven  , son was definitely a Thomas went back to Ireland I found Margaret OKeefe    now Gordon  the daughter had no relatives in NZ 1904 according to a statement she made , in Papers Past NZ
I   think Thomas will be the clue in Ireland , need to find a marriage link .

I am researching Edward OKeefe and  wife Mary Regan  b about 1845-50    daughter Margaret b 1870 came to New Zealand  about early  1870s  these names appear on Margarets marriage  cert to Charles Gordon of Gisborne NZ   at ST Pauls  Napier NZ 1892 , i have very little else to go on a possible son Tom went back to Ireland with his parents   about 1900 family by hearsay Tom went on to be a boxer in Ireland, Edward OKeefe is listed as a clerk on the marriage cert . I have yet to have  look ups on their arrival and outward travel . . Charles Gordon my husbands g father  d 1933  and Margaret d 1956   both buried in Gisborne NZ Charles Gordon  a son of David Laidlaw Gordon from Grenlaw Scotland  and Jane Purvis Watson  had a large family  of 15 children all b in NZ. On arrival in New Zealand   David  went to work on Venlaw Station South Island   .Posts have already been put up by others regarding David Laidlaw Gordon .would be appreciated for any help for the OKeefes
