Would it be worth putting this on the Staffordshire page?
Searching via search engines has not produced a match unless it really is Longford House. Local knowledge seems more likely to find it.

Just to add my opinion. I was almost convinced that it was Longford House but various details decided me against it, namely the extension to the right seemed the same but the chimney is in the wrong place, and the white lines across the front of the building are not there. Also the road looks too small for the Watling Street?
The ground floor could have been changed and the additional bits and pieces added to the front however so maybe the other changes were made too. It is certainly very similar.
The white stones on the edges of the building are very distinctive so perhaps the same architect, therefore local to the Cannock area.
Hope someone has the answer.

All those letters!!! How amazing that some archive, we weren't told which and how, had those. They formed the basis of the story of Samuel and his family. I liked Sophie too, she came over as very natural and sensible.

I agree it's sad to throw away a perfectly good machine just cos you can't get the ink etc.  It is very cynical of the manufacturers.  At the expense of the planet.

I thought this was the least interesting in this series. He also did that annoying thing of deciding he knew his ancestor's character from the briefest outline of their recorded details. I'm not convinced it was his Dennis either.
And, he wasn't descended from any royalty!

This link wants you to sign into an Ancestry account.
Sorry can't help.

I also feel cross about being asked where this was when you knew all along.... However to put that aside, try searching local newspaper records, say 1925 to 1930.

;) that's a useful tip worth remembering. It's amazing how fussy these machines are.

This sort of puzzle is quite addictive, and I've been searching online... Found a photograph of a boys' football team on the Bournemouth Echo website whose strip looks remarkably similar. I'm not saying it's the same team but the date is 1926-7. Stourfield Senior School. Scroll through their archive photos. I didn't like to copy it in case of copyright.
I searched old photos of the Bournemouth area but
I can't find a similar street.
