Many thanks to you both, Neil and Scrimnet!  ;D

I must say the AOC badges look more likely - many thanks for the link!

What are the arm bands with the triangle & dot for?

Hi Rootschatters! ;D

I posted this on the Photo board and has been suggested I try this board as well.
Jim thinks the cap badge is for the Dorset Light Infantry WW1.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Nurses - need date & possible place?
« on: Thursday 13 November 08 13:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Rootschatters!  :)

Found the following photo and no-one in my immediate family seems to know who/what/where. Was hoping some eagle-eyed Rootschatters could throw some light on it, and maybe we could then work out how it is connected to our family.

Need any info possible - possible date, any info regarding type of uniform etc. Not even convinced it was taken in Britian at the moment.

Any help would be fantastic!

Many thanks,
Tamar  ;D

Technical Help / Re: Ancestry has bitten the dust!!!

Most of it seems okay, but BMD search keeps coming up as "Your search for Person returned no matches" whatever name I use!

It did that yesterday, and was a complete pain

Ho-hum

Glen

I have been having exactly the same problem.....been driving me potty! Also having problems loading up images - census fine, but some of their other images - that has been going on for weeks. Reported the images as missing, but no response (or images!)

Noticed that the WDYTYA family tree software comes with either a free 1 or 3 month trial (depending on which version you buy), so no doubt there will be many more users just after Christmas!  :P

Many thanks for your kind suggestions.  ;D

I have done research regarding the church, as I live in Plymouth, and have a copy of their christening records which I got from the Plymouth and West Devon Records Office.

I am more curious about why the maternal grandparents were named in the records from Dr Williams Library, yet no mention of them in the St. Andrews Church christening records.  ???
