Thanks Ambly for your time & trouble. The Joseph I was hoping for was baptised 2.7.1786 at Ashover son of Isaac & Elizabeth of High Moor. I think his parents both died in 1798 (I think she was a Nicholls who married 1.12.1775 at Matlock) but I have no knowledge of Joseph after his baptism. I think his eldest brother Isaac baptised at Matlock 20.4.1776 may have married Elizabeth Allen 22.9.1796 at Ashover & that she also died at High Moor aged 22 in 1800 leaving two small children Isaac bpt 1797 & Mary bpt 1799. Joseph's paternal grandfather was I think yet another Isaac baptised at Matlock in 1696 son of Isaac & Elizabeth of High Leas Matlock.
I have a very good tree tracing the direct line from Isaac of High Leas to my husband but this other branch is still in early stages and more questionable for me. My thoughts are that Joseph had siblings Isaac,Wm,Elizabeth,Ruth,Mary, Josiah & Ellen (Nelly) & that his father's siblings were William, Eleanor, Mary & John, the latter being baptised 1741 & buried 1802 married Ann Young & lived at High Leas Matlock.
However, I am open to being told I am wrong & an entry in Ince's pedigree suggests that Joseph's father may have married a Mary rather than an Elizabeth so it's all in pencil at this end!
Hope I have not gone into too much detail but it's difficult to know where to start or stop with this lot! But your 1861 detail certainly has a better age for Joseph & there were certainly very few Joseph Allsop baptised in Ashover.
Thanks,
Kayzee
