I have an Isaac C (from Diss, nr Hopton b1739) who married a Mary Fox in Norwich in 1780. Their son, Henry b1781 married a Susannah Fox in London in 1804.
Strange how these 2 names are continually being linked. Is there any connection with yours, do you think?

Hi Paul,

I'm still trying to find a baptism at Hopton in Suffolk for my George Cattermole to see if there is a link to parents Issac Cattermole and Phoebe Fox. I have found a marriage for Issac C and Phoebe F and I'll post details when I get access to my family tree files.

Yes it's Hopton, Suffolk near Garboldisham where a possible sister was baptized.

Hi,

I'm looking for a baptism for GEORGE CATTERMOLE in the parish of Hopton.

He was born 1805 to 1809 and I think the son of Isaac CATTERMOLE/CATAMOULE and Phoebe FOX

George was 53yrs in 1861 b Hopton, Suffolk and 63 years in 1871 b Hopton, Suffolk

His sister Matilda CATTERMOLE was baptized at Garboldisham, Norfolk on 15th April 1805

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pre 1837 marriages only give the couples, names, status, date, whether of the parish and witnesses I,m afraid.

Hi,

It would still help to know if joseph was "of the parish", his status and the witnesses names might give some clues ie was anyone else from the family with him so far south or other Steele family members. Sometimes I have been lucky and an occupation was included.

Hi,

I'm researching my AYTON side from Wolsingham, County Durham and need help with a marriage look up.

Joseph AYTON m 23 August 1796 Tring, Hertfordshire to Fanny STEEL/STEELE
 
For some reason Joseph AYTON bp1768 Wolsingham, Durham went to Hertfordshire got himself married and then returned to County Durham. His new wife Fanny STEELE bp25 August 1776 daughter of Andrew STEELE and Anne - Tring, Hertfordshire.

Also Joseph's nephew another Joseph AYTON bp1778 Wolsingham, Durham married Fanny STEELE's younger sister Eleanor STEELE 12 May 1801 (by licence) St Hilda, South Shields, Durham. Eleanor (Nelly) was bp 28 Oct 1778 daughter of Andrew STEELE and Anne - Tring, Hertfordshire. Eleanor must have gone with Fanny to County Durham.

I was hoping the marriage entry might give some information that might explain why Joseph was in Hertfordshire.

At last Daniel's mother has a name - Elizabeth :)

So John Smart was born abt 1765 and Elizabeth born abt 1767

There's a marriage for a John Smart to Elizabeth Taylor 9 Jul 1792 North Wraxall, Wilts on Familysearch (poss first child Sarah bpt Mar 1794 Devizes) North Wraxall is about 20 miles from Devizes?

Also Elizabeth Taylor bpt 7 Feb 1768 North Wraxall dau of Nicholas Taylor and Sarah Schneider

Thank you so much for all the information and confirming that the "birth" dates are baptism dates.

Would RG4 2230 have any further information eg Mother's name?

So John Smart was a baptist too and a schoolmaster.

I hadn't any information at all about John Smart so the details of his second marriage are much appreciated.

I found the "birth" dates on the familysearch website but Nigel has confirmed these are baptism dates. I know Daniel's father was called John Smart and Daniel was born 1808 Devizes but that is it. I have details of Daniel's second marriage in 1848 but haven't found a date for his first to Charity Fay daughter of Timothy Fay (their first child was born 1834 Wantage, Berkshire I think). The Fays were from Enford/ Collingbourne Ducis.
