Could you please look and se if there is a WALTER BATTS living in Lucas Road as they both give the same address on the marriage certificate.

On the 1871 they are living in Epsom, Surrey.

Please could someone look up EMILY GERTRUDE KING on the 1851 or 1861 for NEWINGTON.

She was married in 1866 at St Mary Newington and living in Lucas Road at this time.  Her father was THOMAS KING, a grainer.

Please could someone look on the 1851 or 1861 for MARY ANN BUTLER born in Bethnall Green.  She is aged 39 on the 1891 census married to ABBOTT DURELL (29 on 1881 but named as MARY DUVELL)

Her father is JOHN is listed as a baker, on MARY and ABBOTT's marriage certificate in 1870 at the Parish Church,Clapham.

Thanks for looking this up.  Not sure how it fits with the family but the Abbott I am looking for ends up as a Beerkeeper and running a pub in 1855 in Walworth.

Please could someone look for WALTER BATTS who was 32 on the 1871 census when he was living with his wife EMILY(28) two children and his sister EMILY BATTS(30)

I know his father was JOHN BATTS - Walter was born in Stanton Harcourt and his sister Emily in Trusham - but I don't know anything about their mother or other siblings.

It does fit but I'm not sure it is the Walter I am looking for..... my Walter's widow Emily had a son George who  was 13 on the 1881 so he should have been on the 1871 aged 3 - the daughter Emily would have been 12 so that could be right. The son Edgar is not mentioned with her on 1881 but at 18 he could have been anywhere.  I must have another look on the 1881 for an Edgar and look for a birth certificate I suppose to verify it.

George was born in 1867 in Epsom so that seems to fit but why would they have been in Oxford for the 1871 census without him??

Oh dear lots to think about here ......thank you for your help   ....any other suggestions welcome!

Please could someone lookup in the 1871 and 1861 Surrey census for:-

WALTER BATTS

He was married in 1866 to EMILY KING at St Mary Newington.   Walter died in 1875 and Emily is shown as Head of the family on 1881 census living in Dorking with 5 children.

I have been unable to trace either of the Abbott Durell births or death so maybe I'd better start looking for DAVELL.  I had tried DUVELL without success.

This is a wonderful website - I spend all day on it and the dust gets thicker and thicker and the washing just piles up!!
