Australia / Re: John North Street

There are the following on the NSW BDMs:

Marriage:
2057/1882  STREET  JOHN N       PALFREY  EMMA  BALMAIN

Births:
4164/1883  STREET  WILLIAM J N  JOHN N  EMMA  BALMAIN
4989/1884  STREET  HENRY           JOHN NORTH  EMMA  BALMAIN
4792/1885  STREET  EDITH M         JOHN N  EMMA  BALMAIN

Deaths:
1993/1887  STREET  EDITH M         JOHN N  EMMA  BALMAIN
2857/1884  STREET  HENRY           JOHN N  EMMA  BALMAIN
2999/1885  STREET  EMMA            JOSEPH  MARY A  BALMAIN

Balmain and Glebe are pretty much next door to each other so very possibly your 1891 Glebe John could be him.

majicmiss,

It looks like she arrived on the John Knox in 1850.  This is the link to the passenger list on the NSW State Archives site - page 10 and she is listed under Muldown:
http://srwww.records.nsw.gov.au/ebook/list.asp?Page=NRS5316/4_4786/John%20Knox_29%20Apr%201850/4_478600517.jpg&No=10

If you have access to Ancestry you should search for her (under Muldown) as that passenger list is slightly different - it gives her parents names and the fact they are deceased.

Hope this link works:

As to where physical records are, maybe someone else can help you out there. I know in Qld that the State Archives holds some Boer War records.

Yes, I still think it's full age however is possibly in another's handwriting.

It could be two words "Full age" - maybe "Do" wasn't acceptable hence it being crossed out?  Just a suggestion.

Fantastic Carolyn, I see you've given my ggrandmother some lips too!!  Looks great.

Prue, your date range would narrow it down to my ggrandmother - now I've just to identify which of her children/in-laws the other 3 are.

Much appreciated everyone.

Christine.

Thanks Helen and so quick.

Would anyone know what date this photograph would have been taken, am trying to narrow down which great grandmother it may be.  An added bonus would be if some genius could restore it too.
Many thanks,
Christine.

Australia / WA Passenger List Lookup
« on: Monday 30 October 06 06:36 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find arrival details for Patrick Harte and/or Johanna(h) Harte from Co Clare Ireland to WA.  I have a picture of Johanna and possibly her sisters taken in Albany, WA around 1900 at the studio of R Duryea and she married Thomas O'Connor in Fremantle in 1902 but that's all I have timeline wise.

Many thanks,
Christine.
