New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Lindale or Lindhal

Why not just purchase his wedding certificate ?

Hi - we have the certificate - it's the spelling of the advert which has put us on to a different tack - seems the marriage certificate has Anglisized the spelling and the wedding notice in the Evening Post may be the correct spelling
Thanks Don

New Zealand Completed Requests / Lindale or Lindhal

I have been searching for the past few years on the background of my Paternal grandfather, know up to the time of his death as  Albert Clarence Lindale (known as Harry). The first record we can find of him is his marriage certificate in which he states he was born in Armidale, New South Wales and apparently came to NZ when he was about 1 year of age about 1881. We had been led to believe that he was of Scandinavian origin, probably Danish. Recently when doing a search of Paperspast I came across his wedding announcement in the Evening Post of 17 January 1908 in which he is called  Albert Clarence Lindhal, eldest son of Mr H. Lindhal of Newcastle. (The wedding was on the 16th).
I have had no success in any more searches with this name either. No school records are on the NZSG Index V4, no naturalisation record, nothing, zilch.

I am at a dead end - - any ideas?
