Sorry, just modified my earlier post. I could be way off though.

I believe that the thing at the front is a headlight. It probably only had one, to the left (as you look at it) of centre. If memory serves, it may have been paraffin fuelled. The other lights by the screen, I think, were "running lights" or side lights.  A rear light would have been to the right of centre as only one was required.

Hibee - it just shows, I had not noticed about the table. I knew they were the same time as my Grandfather has the same suit on. Also, it might sound daft, but I had not realised that there are no women in one of the photos, in fact my Grandfather and the gentleman to the left of the table are the only two people (I think) that are in both pictures.
I remember, vaguely, a story about my Grandfather. He is supposed to have leased a house on the Isle of Man during World War Two and taken other Italian Nationals to live there for the duration. I assume it was to avoid internment? I know it sounds awful, but I can`t figure out what age he is in these pictures. He was born in 1898. Does anyone know if the TT was run during the war, or were the Trophies in the Alexandra for tourists to see? I`ve been looking at pictures of Italian riders from around this time, but no luck so far.
Thanks for your help. My Grandfather was my hero, so the more I know about things he did, and when, the better.....

These two photos are taken at the Alexandra (Hotel?) on the Isle of Man. Pictured are the Trophies and guests and riders? In the first one, my Grandfather (Ferdinando (Fred) Fabbri) is on one knee at the front right. I do not know who the others are. There were years when Italian riders did well at the TT.
The second is similar with my Grandfather, back row second from left.
Anybody, any ideas of year and people pictured. I wish my Grandfather had dated these!

flight engineer, I am not sure if the Genny Tognarelli in the photo was my Grandmother`s friend. At about this time, possibly 1920 to 1925, my Grandmother had a friend by the name of Gene or Genny Biglia. Either spelling would be used.
The photo of my Grandfather with the horse and cart, would also be 1920 to 1925, but this is a guess. I have added the front and back of a picture postcard that people used to give each other in those days. As you can see, it is addressed to Miss Meri Pieroni, 46 Pow Street. I do not know who Maggie is who sent the card. My Grandmother was Maria Pieroni, but also called Mary. This card will have been a Christmas before 1922, as she married my Grandfather in that year. Maggie will have been English, or the card would have said "Buon Natale e felice anno nuovo".

Silly question.........How is it that I am putting photos of Tognarellis on here? The first is outside 46, Pow Street and shows Genny Tognarelli on the right. Second outside Pow Street shows Renzo Tognarelli. Third is of Bridge Street. My Nan`s friend around this time (remember she seems to have lived at Pow Street ) was a Gene Biglia. I wonder if that might be Mrs Tognarelli`s maiden name?

My Grandfather`s name was Ferdinando (Fred) Fabbri. My Nan was Maria Pieroni. My Grandfather came to England in 1912, when he was 14 to work for whoever it was who sponsored him. He returned to Italy about two years later to do his military service and got caught up in the war. In about 1972, he was made Cavaliere dell`Ordine di Vittorio Veneto and awarded two medals. As I mentioned, he returned and later married my Nan in 1922. Hopefully, I have attached some photos. William Tognarelli is pictured along with the Bride and Groom etc.. Also pictured is my Granfather far right with unknown friends or colleagues. Any ideas?

Hi, I was really interested in what Toggie had to say. We are not related, but our families have some links. I don`t know if anyone is still following these posts? My Grandfather was also from near Barga. I have spent a lot of time there. I have pics if anyone was interested. My Grandfather was married in January 1922. His Best Man was William Tognarelli. I have a photo of the occasion and a Marriage Certificate with William`s signature on it. The Maid of Honour was a Sarah Johnston, also in the photo. At some time in her life, my Grandmother (also from not too far from Barga in Italy) gave her address as 46, Pow Street. They were married in the Church of Our Lady and St. Michael.
Let me know if you are interested in this stuff.
