Tyrone / Re: McGrath

Thank you, Hallmark, for your time. I do use Irish Genealogy a lot and that's why I thought that Roger came from Omagh (despite his daughter getting married in Belfast and living in Carnmoney!) I could only find one Roger McGrath in the whole of Ireland who died between 1965 and 1922 so assume it is him. His relatives have names like Catherine, Bridget, Margaret...all these names seem to be continued in my tree down the generations so I think it is likely to be him. Was just wondering if anyone else had researched McGrath in Omagh and had come across Roger and the family and could fill in some blanks.

My great-great-great grandfather was Roger McGrath. His daughter, Rose Anna McGrath, my great-great grandmother, married a Samuel Sherrard in 1865. They ended up living in Carnmoney, Co. Antrim but my findings so far suggest that Roger may have been from Omagh or Fintona. He also had a son, Hugh McGrath, and another daughter, Margaret McGrath.  Roger would have been born roughly in 1840s. Does anyone have any information from their family trees on this family line, please? Thank you.

Thank you for this. Next time I am there I'll look that up. My great grandfather and his brother were carpenters who worked at Mountpanther. 1880s up until 1920s I think.

Hi,

I would be very interested in hearing how you get on as my ancestors worked at Mountpanther House. I have tried to get records but I don't think any survive. My great grandfather and his brother worked as carpenters for the Allen family of Mountpanther.

Thank you to everyone who helped me find Sandy Houston! I can now contact the church and see if he has any relatives there as Sandy compiled a family tree and I am wondering if he left it to someone. I am, apparently, related to Sandy. Thank you.

The Plymouth brethren are still in the Dromore area and worship at Dromore Gospel hall. They have recently held a rally at Edentrillick area of Dromore.

THANK YOU, Sam Barry Aghadowey and BallyaltikilliganG. Wow! This is fantastic. The Mary Jane Hamilton I first mentioned was wrong. It was, indeed, Eliza Jane Hamilton. I can follow this on through now. I knew from other records there was a William Laffins somewhere but never thought of him being a son of a first marriage. It may now seem that the Laffins came from Banbridge. Great help!

Hi there, anyone got any information about the Laffins or Laffin folk from Drumgooland/Ballyward area in Co. Down? My great great grandfather was Joseph Laffins who married Mary Jane Hamilton of the same area. Thank you.

Griffiths Valuation records a Conway McNeice in the townland of Coggrey in the parish of Grange of Doagh, near Ballyclare. He was buried in Rashee Old Cemetery with his wife, Martha, nee Alexandra.
