Carolyn, this is great - never saw that level of detail in her hand - it certainly looks like the pegs we used when I was younger. 

I know she took in washing and lodgers to make ends meet so I assume her hands were either always in water or holding pegs! :(  Like many other in those days, she didn't have an easy life. :-\

Thank you so much - wonderful work.  I thought it could be a peg but then thought it was a bit narrow for any pegs I have ever seen - thinking about the end of a pipe but don't think she smoked in any way - need to ask her 92 year old Daughter In Law  ;)

Hello

Could someone help tidy up this picture of my great grandmother, Nellie Hutchison?  I have this picture which is in a bit of a state.  Ideally, I would like to know what shes holding in her hand so if you could help in that area, I would very much appreciate it.

This is taken from an existing picture file so I hope the scanning resolution is high enough.

Hi

It’s been a while since I posted but I am hoping someone can help me out.  I am trying to trace a family in the Liverpool or Manchester area in the 1871 Census.

They are :
Robert Coates (head) approx 28
Jane?? (wife) approx 27
Sarah Hannah (daughter) approx 4

The wife (I think her name may have been Jane) died pre 1877 as Robert re-married in October of that year.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Blimey, I had never noticed that before - her hand IS there on someones shoulder!  I have never seen the other side of this photo, it is gone forever but I love want you have all been able to do with it. 

I have another picture of the mother - could her image be superimposed into the picture?  ???

These are great  :D  I love the little touches you have done with the detail on the clothing, especially the frills on the cuffs and button details on the front and the positioning of the previously non existant hands!
