Hi could I ask what happened to James twin Charles did he die as he is not listed in 1851 Census and in the copy I looked at has Marks wife as William I take it that's should be Elizabeth. Do you have any info on John William Adam Bell married to Janet Cameron as I can't find anything about it, but there is a marriage between them in Glasgow. I would be grateful if you or anyone could help as  I am just starting to make a little headway into this family. Thanks

Thanks so much for the information Osprey. I hadn't turned the page on the 1841 census showing Elizabeth and Martha. You've now given me the name of Mark's partner, Elizabeth Higgins which I've been looking for.  Even though I have the Birth cert. of James Adams b.1844 there is no information on Elizabeth's maiden name. It states name of Mother, Elizabeth Adams.  It looks as though they were unmarried in 1841and perhaps they never did.  I'll continue searching.  Also thanks for the info. regarding the John Adams registered in Ludlow I realise now that they can't be the same person.

Hi could I ask what happened to Charles Adams James twin as he wasn't mentioned in the 1851 Census and I take it that the fact that Marks wife is named William is a typo.

Thanks for your reply. I have the Birth cert. for James b.1844 but unfortunately his mother'.s maiden name isn't shown. The two entries for John's christening were on Family search, but they do look like the same person. I've also got the entry of the birth for John Adams on free bmd for 1850 but the registration district is Ludlow. I wonder if this could be him and if so why would he be registered there instead of Hereford. Yes I do have details of the  1841 census, it shows Mark living alone and born in Scotland. On several census his occupation is a Tailor

Hi I have also just found out that my ancestors came from Nantwich Union Workhouse namely  James and Charles Adams born 1844. In later years they moved to Yorkshire and changed there surname but I can't find out why this came about. James Adams married Mary Strange she had 2 children prior to this marriage. It was after the birth of Mary E Adams that they moved to Yorkshire and the name change came into play.
