Some information on Esther Roadnight, wife of William Overton.

Approx 18 months after the death of her husband it appears Esther had a relationship with an u/k male which resulted in the birth of her daughter, Linda Jane Overton in 1878.

1891 census lists Esther as 54, bn Hampton Lucy, occ Laundress, living with daughter Linda in Snitterfield Rd., Hampton Lucy.

1901 census shows Esther as 66 yrs old a widower living Snitterfield Rd, Hampton lucy, two houses away from son Thomas. She is listed as an agricultural worker.

For your information, I have a photo of William/Esther's son Thomas.

Buriel record for 23rd March 1909 lists Esther as 74 years old from Hampton Lucy.

Armagh / Re: Rowntree / Rountree - Armagh

Greetings,

Your great grandmother Elizabeth was Annie,my great grandmothers younger sister, which makes us third cousins. Do you still live near Armagh? My branch of the family moved to Atherstone in North Warwickshire. My Mum did go over to Loughgall with her Mum in about 1947, a couple of years after her Dad died. She recalled meeting some of your family along with seeing her Mum's family (Douglas) who had a farm in Tullyroan.

One question, were your side of the family tall. Annie was 5' 10" (very tall for a woman bn 1867), whilst my grandfather was 6' 4". How he survived the first battle of the Somme I don't know?

If you would like to know more please get back.

Claire,

It is fantastic to hear from you. Your Elizabeth was very close to my grandfather when he was young and living in Loughall. She acted as his mum after his own mother married and moved to England.

I have a photo of Jodie King (1930ish), and my mums cousin Mable came over to see us in the 1980's. It would great to learn more about our families.

Best wishes

Shaun

I have checked my records and marriage details for William are as follows:-

William Davis, 24, Bachelor, Collier of Baddesley Ensor. Farther John Davis, Labourer.

Sarah Redfern, 21, Spinster, Servant of Polesworth. Father William Redfern, Labourer.

William marked his name X. Sarah signed it herself.

Wilnesses were John Davis, mark X, and Emma Redfern, signed.

Hope this helps

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Will of Roger Albrighton
« on: Tuesday 21 July 09 12:34 BST (UK)  »
Is there anyone out there who can help me decipher the will of Roger Albrighton dated 1409. He was treasurer of St Paul's, London and the Port of London. It is of course written in Latin.

Ah,

Someone related to me...... Albrighton that is. The first record of our family in North Warwickshire is the marriage of John Albrighton to Ellen Simmons in 1628 at Grendon. I have a great deal of info on the family line if you are interested?

Re Samuel do you know any more about him? Where/when born etc, as there are a few around at that time. The marriage certificate should give his father. I should be able to trace him back then. In the mean time I will do a bit of digging.

Just to clarify things for you. Nuneaton holds, Nuneaton plus Hartshill and Mancetter. The later two are also at Atherstone, which holds Kingsbury, Polesworth, Baddesley, Grendon etc. I should point out Atherstone only has one reading machine so phone and book up.

Out of curiosity which family names are you interested in? I may be able to help.

I don't know if you are aware but Bentley came under Shustoke in the 18th C, so you may need to check there. Otherwise try Merevale.

Matt,

Checked my program and info I have is as follows.

Thomas Jinks, bn Abt 1834, Sutton Coldfield, married a Marria Alsopp on 9/11/1863, they having 5 children. Sometime between 1874 and 1881, Maria died. Thomas then re married a Jane Clempson, bn Abt 1855, Drayton Bassett. They are listed as living at Farm House, Wilnecote Staffs in 1891 census.

By the 1901 census they are living at )what appears to be ) Hack Ag Rowe, Wilnecote. Jane's mother is living with them at this time.

Jane Clempson appears to be the daughter of John Clempson bn Abt 1820, Bently and Jane Dewell, abt 1824, Drayton Bassett. They married 12/10/1846, Middleton, Warks. They are listed in 1861 census as having 4 children..

John's parents were Edward Clempson and Jane.

Let me know if this fits in?

Best Wishes
