Ireland / Re: How do I use information obtained from Griffiths?
« on: Thursday 15 July 04 23:01 BST (UK)  »
This article on this website might help http://www.kinsella.org/genealogy/research/irjuris.htm

it gives a short explanation of the townlands and baronies etc... "Ireland is divided into four provinces. Each province is divided into counties; each county into baronies; each barony into parishes; and each parish into townlands"

Cork / Re:Cunningham
« on: Sunday 16 May 04 20:43 BST (UK)  »
I know very little about Cork but you might be able to get some contact details for locals in the Rosscarbery area from these sites:

The Rosscarbery website
http://www.rosscarbery.ie

I tried the Irish phone book for Rosscarbery and it only lists 1 Cunningham in the area, you just have to give the surname and town for the search
http://www.goldenpages.ie/extra/phonebook.html

and the Cork Guide gives contact details for Cunninghams at Seaview, Rosscarbery
http://www.cork-guide.ie/rosscarb/seacliff/welcome.htm

hope this helps

Ireland / Re:KILLULY
« on: Sunday 25 April 04 23:00 BST (UK)  »
I have never heard of Loughbord it's possible there was a misprint or mistake in transcription with the Loughboard.

I did come across a marriage for an Ellen Killuly and Laurence Geraghty in July 1806, parish of Ardagh and Moydow in County Longford.

The record is listed along with other Ardagh & Moydow records at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~irllog/ardmar_g.htm

however I was unable to locate any other info on the name Killuly at the site.

Hope this helps

Ireland / Re:Patrick O'Connor - Can't find him!

An online database on the Irish Genealogy website has records for 9 counties in Ireland https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/csi/csi_main.cfm

The page can sometimes take a while to load but I did see some Patrick O'Connor birth records listed between 1820 and 1835 mainly in Counties Sligo and Limerick and Co Sligo Tithe records for 1833/1834 also have Patrick O'Connor listed

You might like to try the Connors Genealogy website
http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
which has a lot of information on Connors/O'Connor including a one name study
http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/oconnor/

Good luck with your search

Cork / Re:Cork City location?

From what I understand the Roman Catholic parish for Cork City is St Mary's.

You could try the Cork City Councils website for maps of the area
http://www.corkcorp.ie/maps.html

or the Cork ancestors website and try a search of their database
