I used to go to the above website regularly to find Scottish Graves. As my tree filled up I have had less need to use it but today for the first time in months, maybe even a year or two, I clicked on my saved link for this website. Bad mistake! I was immediately on a website telling me that my computer was infected and a non stop pop up supposedly from Windows Defender was insisting that I click the button to remove the viruses. After a bit of effort I managed to get rid of the pop up and a Norton scan tells me that my computer is clear of viruses.
Looks like the legitimate website is no more so beware - does anyone know what has happened to it or can it still be found somewhere?

Thanks Gadget. I wasn't aware of this group so definitely worth pursuing.
All files for this tree seem to have been wiped from my PC so every route I tried failed. Fortunately I remembered that I had copied the tree to a CD several years ago and so I have managed to install this as a new project and have now added in most of the missing and more recent bits.
A reminder for all of us to regularly back up on an external device!

I have two trees on Family Historian. A new update has been released and as usual I installed this earlier today. All is well with one tree but my other tree while still listed as a project is now totally blank. All the data seems to have been wiped from my computer. Anyone else had this problem and if so how have you resolved it?

The journal of the honourable John Erskine of Carnock contains an eye witness account of the trial and execution of Thomas Harkness and his two fellow prisoners; see the entry for 15th August 1684 in:-

I am a direct descendant of Thomas Harkness, known as Thomas the Martyr. He was hanged in the Grassmarket in Edinburgh in 1684. He was a Covenanter, as were the Winton martyrs.

Several of my ancestors are buried in a family plot in the Ramshorn Kirk in Glasgow . However there is one burial, interred while the plot was still in active use by the family, of someone who seems to be entirely unconnected with my family. I say “unconnected” but bizarrely there is now a connection as this mysterious lady is my wife's greatx3 grandmother!

One of my wife's ancestors was a photographer and a collection of his glass plates is held by a museum. However this museum has attributed them to a much younger person. We have given the museum details of our research but they refuse to engage with us. The head of the museum did produce a book of these mis-attributed photos and we strongly suspect that misplaced professional pride (arrogance?) is part of the problem.
