Hi
I mean I've looked everywhere in Scottish records for a clue as to which part of Ireland he was born/lived but have not found anything and are there any suggestions as to where I might look next in Scottish records. There is no hint in census, I cant find any marriage or death certificates for him or his wife and have even checked through high court trial and prison records which, while fascinating, are no help in establishing where this particular individual was born.
His wife Agnes or Ann Scott is mentioned in high court trials in the 1840s and was apprently still alive but did not appear on the 1841 census with husband and son. I havent been able to find either of them in later census.
I knew research in Ireland is nigh impossible without knowing the area so this was really a last ditch effort before finally conceding defeat.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
