Just a bit of an update
I walked over to Flass from Wormit the other day
I started with a white West Highland Terrier and ended with a muddy one !!

Met the Farmer of Flass Farm who had the time to chat with me. A friendly fellow.
His family has farmed there for generations and he has never heard of Mount Mirragog or anything like it.
However, as pointed out earlier in this discussion, Google maps shows some signs of habitation to the west of Flass farm and he did say that there were, what he though were Bothies, in that field years ago.
Earlier maps show an unnamed dwelling in the north west corner.
I also include the Birth Registration for my Ancestor Andrew Rodger
Also, I am in discussions with St Andrews University and will update later

Hi he is on the 1891 census David Rodger 37 b Creich Christine 28 and David 0 at Balgarthino Farm, Liff & Benvie
Looks to be same family in 1901 you found
Keyboard86

Ah !
I see now this was the Cousin of my David Rodger. He was born in Creich in 1853 and My David was 1854.
My David is on no Scottish record after 1881
I'm barking up the wrong tree. Back to the drawing board !!
Thanks all

Lancashire / Death Lookup for David Rodger
« on: Wednesday 16 December 15 19:54 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for a lost Ancestor, David  Rodger.
He was born in a Hamlet called Creich in Fife in the year 1854
After the 1881 Census he is not found in any of the Scottish Records.
No marriage or Death.
However there is a David Rodger in the 1901 Census for Worsley, Lancaster at Grange Farm Cottage
I wonder if this could be my missing David. The age is exactly right.
Could anyone kindly lookup the death Certificate for me, and if so, it would be greatly appreciated

Also, I may add, that when I checked the Old Parish Registers yesterday, I noted that the original entries over the years that the Roger children were born, were made in different handwriting, therefore entered by more than one person.
I doubt that there would have been many Englishmen in a rural parish like this.
No racism intended here, as my own Father was English !!!
The entries clearly state Mountmirrygog( various spellings ) but are in the Forgan Registers, not Kilmany, which is where Mountquhanie is

Went through the Roger births in Forgan Parish, kept at Cupar Library, and find that they have been transcribed correctly
The attachment shows the place in five Births registrations.
So I am no further forward !!!

I know the area well Dod, but just didn't know I had a connection
I will visit with the Camera, the first good day
Thanks again

I found Katherine's headstone on a sunny day this summer (2015). The view from the Churchyard with the 'silvery Tay' sparkling in the sun was just perfect. A lovely place to have as your final resting place.
               Regards,     Dod.

I have been heading to this conclusion too
Nothing else seems to fit

I actually think that this place may be a corrupted name of "Mountquhanie".
