Probably a coincidence but phonebooks have a N J Spencer living at Catsbury cottage, Hartpury approx 1972 to 1982.
Do you have any other piece of information, no matter how small to help find him?

Phone books (Ancestry) have his address 1977 to 1984 (could be there before or after) as Hartpury Cott., Chedworth   Fossebridge.

Articles available at British Newspaper Archives or Findmypast. There are 4 or 5 birth/death notices for the Gamble family.
It used to be if you registered free with the BNA you could get three free pages, it  may still apply.
