Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: Research Request: Navy Brig Sunk West Itchnour Harbor 1841

Hi Tim,
I regret that I can't offer info on John Beale, but I am interested in a James Henry Beale.  I am trying to trace a James Henry Beale, supposedly a sea captain who sailed UK to Australia in the early 1880s, and who was the father for James Henry Beale (jnr) born Sandy Bay Tasmania, around 1823.  This would make your Capt James Henry Beale only 18old at time of birth of JHB of Sandy Bay, but not totally improbable.  If you have knowledge of any connection, I'd appreciate your advice.
Regards,
Bill Beale

Hello again Tony,
My web site is www.callrunner.com.au - there's a Contact Us page.  I've now re-typed the letter endeavouring to use the same spelling etc.  Some words I could not distinguish because it is a late generation photocopy.  I'm not sure where the base document is that my mother gave me - my daughter used the letter in a school project many years ago and I suspect that's how I've now ended up with a photocopy.  From some of the terminology within the letter, I suspect it was written by a solicitor (terms like 'the said', 'the aforementioned' etc).  The handwriting of the signature, albeit a small sample, looks different to that of the letter.  Some of the place names mentioned in the letter were not familiar to me and I may have 'translated' them incorrectly in spite of calls to Goggle Maps.

I've managed to find an old photograph of Charles and Jane, if a copy is of interest.  I also had a photo of my mother in front of The Bury Farm (mentioned in the letter) when she called past on a visit to the UK in the 70s, but can't locate it at the moment.

No, I do not have a contact for Tim

Regards,

Bill

Thanks Tony, Neil,
Unfortunately your email didn't make it, Tony.  The hyperlink reported, 'Error has occurred - you are not allowed to send personal messages'.  This is my first introduction to such a forum and I gather I'm not permitted to post my email address.  Can I post my web site address which has a Contact page?  I have not contacted Tim but, if we can establish contact, I'm quite happy to pass on what I have.  (I regret to say that what I have on the family background is little more than a MS Word document consisting of random notes) In regard to the letter by Charles Wright Taitt, the copy I have is a photocopy (obviously made in more recent years) faded and hard to read in places.  I did type a copy some years back but, what with several generations of replacement computers, I'm having trouble locating the typed reproduction.  I'll re-type it again and can send copies of both.

Hello,

I've just stumbled across these posting and, if it's not too late to help, I may be able to clarify some issues.  My name is William (Bill) Beale, and I'm a great-grandson of Charles William Wright Taitt.  I'm the son of Gladys Beale nee Wright Taitt, who was the daughter of William and Grace Wright Taitt (both buried at Wallerawang cemetery).  William was the son of Charles William Wright Taitt.  I have a copy of a letter, sent back to the UK by Charles, claiming an inheritance alluded to in a previous post.  This letter outlines Charles' background in the UK.
