I wonder how much this gives an indicator as to how close it is.

I'm guessing from the deafening silence the answer is 'no'.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Possible Gatty connection

I have a relatively rare surname (Gatty), with variant spelling there are about 1100 worldwide .
The Gattys seem to have been found first in Cornwall and then Devon as Gattey.
My father and I have not been able to connect our Gatty line to the Cornish and Devon branches.

A little while ago I loaded my father's raw data to My heritage. Recently I discovered he has a 24cM/15.8 match with someone who has an Elizabeth Gatty born Veryan,Cornwall in 1704 as an 8th generation ancestor.

Could this be the elusive Cornish/Devon connection?

I'm thinking the link has to be via male sibling or other male Gatty ancestor of Elizabeth.

I would be most grateful if someone could find who were the licensees of the Commercial inn Bolton before William Gatty in 1814-15.
Thank you

Now not sure what to believe. The 1851 and 1891 census has my 2gt grandfather Henry Charles Cooper listed as born Overton, Flintshire in 1822/23.I know his father was Benjamin from marriage cert.

However family search brings up the following:

Henry Charles Cooper
Gender:     Male
Baptism Date:     20 Oct 1822
Baptism Place:     Overton, Cheshire, England
Father:     Benjamin Cooper
Mother:     Elizabeth
FHL Film Number:     1751487

Interesting to see the research re Benjamin Walton Cooper but unfortunately doesn't help me. As far as i can make out Benjamin Walton Cooper only had two sons-William and Benjamin.
Sometime between 1851-1860 my Henry Charles Cooper went to Lancashire and married Sarah Bramall in 1860 at Manchester and later Mary Mcreadie nee Bramall(Sarah's sister).

We also know Benjamin Sr was a wine/spirit merchant in Wrexham before he went bankrupt in 1825.

I have considered this Benjamin but am not sure about a wine/spirit merchant becoming a clerk/printer/ or stationer.
