Hi Comfort... I haven't been in here in a while, but Carol makes a very valid point. AI can do some amazing things, and many folks have gained quite the valuable insight into the various apps, filters and implementation of it.

Some nice examples of it have already been submitted. BUT - as has been explained many times before - it isn't always as accurate as one might think. Physical resemblances can be altered significantly. The appearance of clarity and detail often overshadow this fact. I try to use it sparingly, but I know that I often get pushed down that road by my clients. And it is very hard to resist.

One thought that sometimes gets popooed in certain circles is the abandonment of any scanning knowledge, and simply capitulate to taking a photo with you mobile phone. THOSE cameras have gotten so good now that with a little bit of practice, one can often surpass, by far, what their knowledge and experience on a scanner would allow or afford them. In looking at your original submission... I am pretty sure that there is no elaborate pattern or detail going on in the backdrop. Most likely a solid (with maybe a hint of gradation). Same with the shirt. BUT you can see how quickly AI picks up that noise, and believes it is detail, and actually enhances and creates patterns where there likely were not any. Also remember that AI - in its current stages of development - is focusing primarily on faces.

I am late to the table. So many very good response already. I am afraid mine isn't much different than those you have already received.

One gentleman jumped out at me. At first I thought he had a cigarette in his mouth - but gigar"ettes" weren't the fashion of the day (and nobody else is smoking). AND then I thought maybe it was drawn it... and then I concluded it "must be a scratch." Was that a scratch?

Looking at again smaller... I wish I could've gotten more of that dot out.

I gave it a whirl. Tough one...
