My relatives lived at "The Beeches", Hartford, Cheshire. I don't know how I missed this. Probably because I always thought of it as "Northwich".

Please contact me per "private message" and we can decide what should be "public".

Thank you
Gill

I started in 2013 with my english ancestors from Cheshire. My German ancestors Tree is still on-going. My mother's name was anglicised to "Fisher" from Pfisterer. That was all I had to go on.

A few years ago I visited my great grandmother's home town. Her family house still stands in Kocherstetten, Baden-Württemberg.

The Basler and the Zürcher citizens have a century long rivalry with one another  ::)

I have found my Siddington relatives. They were the Bowers from Marthall.

More later, maybe private post as it will not interest all and sundry.

Hello Anne

I knew my grandfather Fisher came from Germany but my mother and her sisters didn't know the name of the place.
A few years ago I started to search for my unknown relations. I had already emigrated to Switzerland in 1969. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the Town of Künzelsau was only about 380 Km from our home. I visited Künzelsau a few years ago. My gt Grandmother's birth house was still standing in nearby Kocherstetten. She was born in 1842, exactly 100 years before my birth.

Kind Regards
Gill

It really is a beautiful church.

Many of my ancestors were from the area. Must have a "look see".

I think probably that the main reason, especially in the US, is that the family on my mother's side were from Baden-Württemberg.

One reason could be that the family names Pfisterer-Brück were altered to Fisher and Briggs. My great-grandmother's younger brother worked one year for pork butcher relative in England and was known as Frederick Briggs when he emigrated.

A number of Americans seem to wish to "hide" their German forefathers or maybe it is that they are ignorant of it.
