Thanks everyone for your efforts. I am surprised I can’t find Attestation papers though. Might these have been destroyed during WW2 bombing?

Regards

Thanks ever so much for looking. What frustrates me is that I am sure I found something but now can't locate it.

Best wishes

Good afternoon

Can someone help me find the service record and / or medal card for George Williams (born 11 Dec 1888 in Lambeth, Surrey). I believe he was in the Army Veterinary Corps at Ypres, Paschendale and the Somme. He was a jockey before the war. I used to have some information but for the life of me can't locate it.

Pretty please

David

Wow yes that's him thank you so much. Now to find his record card!

Regards

David

Thanks for the reply. My Gt grandfather was just a George with no missile name. I have no indication of a MSM so that probably isn’t him.

Thanks you

David

Hi Shaun

That's fascinating. Any idea how I can find Austin Smith's WW2 record and service number?

Much obliged

Hi Shaun (or anyone else with the knowledge)

I see from the attachments that the service number 128698 for Austin Smith appears to be a Royal Flying Corps service number, would he have retained this number in the RAF?

At the end of WW1 he was graded as a Flight Cadet and at the start of WW2 he was a LAC AH. In the Air 78 / 79 records I can not find Austin Smith or that service number. I am a bit confused with what to do next

Any help gratefully received.

David
