Service Record / Medal card
« on: Wednesday 20 November 24 17:39 GMT (UK) »
Good afternoon

Can someone help me find the service record and / or medal card for George Williams (born 11 Dec 1888 in Lambeth, Surrey). I believe he was in the Army Veterinary Corps at Ypres, Paschendale and the Somme. He was a jockey before the war. I used to have some information but for the life of me can't locate it.

Pretty please

David

Thanks for the reply. My Gt grandfather was just a George with no missile name. I have no indication of a MSM so that probably isn’t him.

Thanks you

David

A search of Medal Index Cards and the Medal Rolls using surname of Williams and service number of 3101 has drawn a blank. I also searched with his surname and Royal Veterinary Corps but this also drew a blank. This suggests that he didn't serve overseas.

Thanks ever so much for looking. What frustrates me is that I am sure I found something but now can't locate it.

Best wishes

David

MSM were either for long service over 20 years (not applicable in this case) or for gallantry not i the face of the enemy (this changed post WW1).  It seems unlikely that a member of the AVC who did not serve overseas would be awarded a MSM.
