Hallo All

perhaps I should remind you all that the problem is proving that henry william t is the same person as theodore.

The rest is history, as the saying goes

Thank you all, again for your help and interest

Hallo Girl Guide
thanks for advice.
Freebmd simply repeats info in ancestry and findmypast, without confirming theodore theory.

Hallo All, again
I certainly deserve the implied reprimand for considering the allocation of Robert L W  to the Yorkshire parents.

You were correct; I had not come across the Portsmouth marriage; my excuse is that I am covering England county by county in a clockwise direction on a map, (starting from Cornwall),  hence the Yorkshire aspect of my query.

One of your replies includes " alters his name", implying that it is confirmed somewhere, and not a product of logical deduction .  is there any proof ? or confirmation ?
There was certainly a lot of anti-German discrimination in the WW1 era.

The final result of this debate is that I shall leave George Percy and Percy George in my rather large "unallocated data" box  indefinitely.

Again I thank you all.

hallo All
Percy George slaughter had one son from Helena Pack= Robert L W born 1943 portsmouth, hampshire who married Jill W Mitchell and might have produced Mark Robert 1974 portsmouth

===========
I have researched the schlothauer suggestion and decided that it is a red herring, as i cannot establish a connection between that family and the slaughters.

I have advised ancestry that the percy george slaughter living with everetts  should be george percy schlothauer.
probably the error of an enumerator who could not read his own writing in his primary notebook/record when he/she transferred it to the official census sheet.

interestingly, george percy schlothauer does not appear in later records ,  was he interred, or became a german spy or what ?

i do examine any evidence which appears in the trees of other researchers, among which i have found too many contradictions and apparent inaccuracies

thank you all for an interesting diversion

WOW !
i am very impressed with your replies which are very thought-provoking.

who is OP?,  is that myself?.
I expanded my research from my own family to a one-surname-study of Slaughter in England,  independent of GOONS.
because I make my own rules, I include any twigs, branches, trunks or limbs which bear the name SLAUGHTER,   some of my trees contain name-variants which change down the generations, eg slater, slayter slowther slauter etc.

The descendants in the 20th cenury use the Slaughter surname, so they qualify for inclusion in my research.

I have published umpteen slaughter and other trees on ancestry,  possibly 80+

Because my only source of data is the internet,  I exercise much caution to prevent inaccurate connections  .being published.    This research resembles a large jigsaw missing many pieces, without a final picture >

I shall certainly explore the leads you have all provided.

I had hoped to attach him to one of my existing trees,   but shall PROBABLY give him his own mini-tree, if it proves to be viable.

Thank you all for your research, help and advice.

Hallo Anybody

i cannot find his birth record or his inclusion in the 1891 census.

he appears in death records, 1901 census in margate, 1911 in ecclesfield and his marriage to helena pack.

the summary of the above records ;
born 1881, ecclesfield/wortley/lane end/chapelford  all suburbs of modern sheffield.
1901 census shows birthplace as brixton, london.

Born in 1881, probably too late for the 1881 census,  but there was only one slaughter family registered as resident in sheffield;

john slaughter 1812 brentford middx
elizabeth (nee stow) 1826
and five children born in yorks.

if he were born to this couple, the mother would be 55 years old.

can anybody trace him for me please ?
