One of the surnames appearing on the gravestones in the Ashkirk churchyard was King.  Is anybody able to do a lookup for me please?

Katherine75, I meant to say that my husband is the great-grandson of Matthew and Fanny.  They had a child Patrick, and he is my husband's grandfather.

Thanks for all the help.  Found the Castle-Ellis graveyard today, and amazingly there were many very old headstones that were still readable.  Found quite a few with BYRNE on them and have photos, because I haven't got a link to the family yet.

Also visited the cemetery at Ballaghkeen last week, and found a few BYRNE headstones.

Visited a local lady in Oulart today, and I have some other info which may help.  I have a lot to work on now

Katherine75,  My husband is the grandson of Matthew Byrne and Fanny Jordan.  Fanny's father is Michael, but that's all I know about her family.  I haven't confirmed Matthew's first wife's name yet.  Yes, I have Matthew and Fanny's death certificates at home (I'm currently in Ireland).  Are you connected to this family?

Castleellis graveyard seems to be just east of the village, to the north of the R744. The older OSI maps show a church (CofI) at the location, which now seems to be gone. The laneway to the graveyard appears to be close to a monument to the rebellion of 1798

see : Castleellis church & graveyard   (c1890 OSI map)

Thanks so much for the links.  Fabulous!

Have just found Castle-Ellis on a map, so will take a look at the graveyard if I can find it, on Friday.

Have to go back to Australia next week, so any clues while I'm in the area would be gratefully appreciated.

I am staying in and around Oulart currently.  Do you know specifically where the Castle-Ellis graveyard is?  Haven't seen it whilst driving around.

The above couple had children Patrick, Matthew, Mary, James and Thomas - all baptised in Oulart around the 1830s.  Trying to trace these families.  Matthew married Frances Jordan in Enniscorthy in 1874 (2nd marriage) and migrated to Australia.  Any help would be appreciated.
