World War Two / Attached to cheshire regiment?
« on: Friday 02 November 18 14:29 GMT (UK)  »
My gt uncle was in the REME, but this letter shows RASC, what I want to know would he be classed as cheshire regiment or attached to the cheshires whilst with the REME or RASC? I'm awaiting service records but can't work out wether somone can be in the cheshire regiment and still be REME or RASC? He died in 1947 as a result of water contamination in the desert theatre. I have attached an image of a letter which shows some details of his situation. Anyone know anything about No.1 Adv MTD ?

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: Newspaper Archive lookup or advice

Thank You!
Ah thats a bit of a disappointment. I have all that info already. Not to worry, he wasn't kidding when he was getting away to start a new life and leave virtually no trail, that and New York's impenetrable access to records.

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Newspaper Archive lookup or advice
« on: Sunday 10 December 17 20:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Just been doing my ancestral names lookup on Google, and i had one hit from Newspaper Archive.com. is anyone a member of this site or is this site a generic 'we've found info on whatever you've typed into Google?'
I'm very interested though as i have nothing on my gt uncle after 1930, but this site says there is an obituary for him for Feb 1968 name Albert Dyton which is true living in New York. I would be grateful if anyone could may be help me and have access to this site?
Kind regards

Thank you.
Yeah it was a bit selfish of him to pop his clogs where he did  :)

Though if that is my gt uncle in the 1931 listing he had a change of job from a desinger to a shopping clerk within a year. ???
Though it must be him again though reckon, if you don't mind me asking, how did access the directories? If I had access I suppose I could try and see how far I could get...i don't know. :)

Thanks
Well that puts a stop to that then no more I can do then. I'll probably be the only person ever to request that form. Have to say I'm a little annoyed that i may be the only other person who wants to find out about him but because of my relationship I'm denied. I suppose a photo and a 1930 census extract is all I'll know about him, knowing that there is a death certificate out there I would pay for.

Ahh well.

Hi
Thanks for the reply, I have seen that newspaper article whilst on many of my google searches for my gt uncle, thus being dated 1934 this actually the latest piece of information on my gt uncle contrary to me saying it was the 1930 census. I have read this extract a few times and tried to gather some sort of understanding from it to see what my gt uncle was up to over in America. From then on until 1968 it goes silent until his death in 1968 where I have the info on his death index. I wish he wasn't so hard to look up.
Many thanks.

Hello
I am after obtaining a death certificate for my Gt Uncle Albert Edward Dyton who was naturalised in New York in 1927 after travelling from Bombay where my gt grandad and grandmother lived. I have found his death index as follows:
DoB 17 August 1902
Died  February 1968
SSN  050-10-6013  issued New York
Death Residence -     ZIP Code 10011

The last information I can see of him on a census is on the 1930 census living at 108 Buena Vista Avenue employed as a designer working for the Otis company. His surname showing as 'Deyton'.
I have looked up the 1940 census but I cannot find anything for him.
As I am trying to find out as much as possible about my gt uncle and cannot get further info on later census returns I am trying to request his death certificate, maybe he married or not.
The problem is on the the VitalChek website I get as far as the 'Relationship' menu I cannot find an appropriate relationship option to chose from. Surely I wouldn't denied access as he was my grandmother's brother, even if I did it on behalf of my mother who would be his niece there isn't an option. If anyone has had experience of obtaining a certificate this way or have any advice about obtaining it I would be very grateful indeed.
There was a similar post I did on here 7 years ago but not about finding anymore about my gt uncle's life in New York.

Kind Regards

Hi
I only just came across this post and wanted to say I'm in the same situation. The only difference being is my gt grandad died in 1923 and is buried here.if anyone can help me it would be great. I've messaged Mr masih but unsure I will get a reply. I have specific dates and full name of the deceased. Willing to pay for any inconvenience caused.
