Durham / Black Horse, County Durham
« on: Thursday 14 September 23 10:30 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have an Isabella Kirtley born c1871, and in the 1881 census for Whitworth (Spennymoor) her place of birth is given as Durham, Black Horse.

Any ideas where that could be?
Thanks

If a death occurred at the Westmorland Sanitorium in 1913, what registration district would it come under?

Thanks.

Other Countries / Re: Bone family in Argentina

Hi Skoosh,

Yes, story is he was sent over with the cattle to care for them on the journey.  His brother, David went with them.  Information is, once the cattle had been delivered, they were going to return home as they had return tickets. Trouble was, they lost their tickets.

Other Countries / Bone family in Argentina
« on: Monday 15 November 21 18:53 GMT (UK)  »
A great uncle of my wife, according to family knowledge, helped to take cattle from SW Scotland to Argentina.  I suspect this was early 1900's.  The story goes that he stayed there.  His name was George Bone, born 1885.

I have now found couple of names of 2 persons on a passenger list, dated 1951,  that may be related.
Margarita Wallace Bone, born c1919 in Argentina, and a Tomas Bone born c1917.
Margaret Wallace was the mother, and Thomas Bone, was the father of George Bone.

I have no other information at present.

Is there a way of finding out more information, like births etc?

Thanks in advance.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Re: John Sharpe, born 1895

I had a look around the Gosport area, hoping he hadn't moved, but nothing obvious.  Just wondered if there may be records because he was working in the R N A D.  One problem is he had no middle names that would have helped.
His brother Alexander was married in 1920 at Portsea, but John is not mentioned on it.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / John Sharpe, born 1895
« on: Wednesday 25 August 21 17:04 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for a distant cousin, John Sharpe, born 14 November 1895, Closeburn, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.  I have found a John Sharpe with the same date of birth in the 1939 Register.  The address is 74 Whitworth Road, Gosport.  His occupation is given as general labourer, R N A D.

He is marked down as being married and the line under his details are blacked out, so I assume this is a child.

His brother, Alexander Sharpe, was serving in the Royal Navy.  In 1939, he was residing at 105 Whitworth Road, with his wife and family.
At present I have no other info on John.
Thanks

I've found my Agnes Shaw and her husband John Brown.  Buried at Creetown (Kirkmabreck)  Balhasie is mentioned on Monumental Inscription.

Thanks everyone for all the help.
