Hi, Re Paris Amos. I did find him many years ago but the posting was on Ancestry and I do not contribute to it so was unable to contact his daughter . Here I cannot post my email address but if allowed you will find a link at my web site www.terrycallaghan.com. for contact.
As for Alexander Johnston, it looks like he has been found but are there any kin wishing for his tag.

Hi, I have found among my late grandmother possessions two 'dogtags'' .
One for a P. Amos no. 39232528 and the other for a A. Pierson no. 223 78 91 T  1-42 -A- USN. I have no knowledge of the connection between her or possibly her then granddaughter and these US servicemen who would have been in Australia on leave in the war. I do not know if they survived the war or were kia. I would like to know.

I would like to return them to their kin. If you know the names you will need to prove your connection by providing their full names to me. You can contact me at (*)

Australia / NSW Residents - 1915- Motorists.
« on: Saturday 05 November 16 02:57 GMT (UK)  »
Good Afternoon,

This data base of NSW residents is somewhat out of my area of research – pre 1900, but when I discovered the book I could not resist in adding it to my databases as it may provide useful information to my readers.
It is based on the listing of all Cars and Owners for 1915. It contains 9,318 names, addresses, registration number, horse power, make of the car(s) , seating capacity and importantly the price
So if you want to know where grandfather lived and what car he or maybe grandmother was driving, the make and horse power of the car, how many of the family it would carry, where it was manufactured and importantly in most cases how much it costs this new data base will add a new avenue for your research.
Once you know the make, model and country of manufacture you can then search for an image of the car to add to your tree. Once you know the cost you can convert it to present-day value to provide an indication of grandfather socio-economic status. PS If you need PDV help, ask.
Follow the  links for more information but note I am still in the slow process of uploading some names and places.

Australia / NSW Schoolteachers
« on: Friday 28 October 16 03:01 BST (UK)  »
Good Afternoon,

The records of the NSW Public Service , Parliamentary Proceedings, Government Gazettes and Ecclesiastical Returns  provides the names and the schools for teachers, pupil teachers, probationary teachers, itinerant teachers, mistress and School Attendance Officers. Many of the schools have long since disappeared or closed but may be of interest to those whose ancestors were teachers. They are listed in my new database NSW Residents Vol 3. Follow the link for free extracts from this database if your ancestors were school teachers or  if you simply wish to know  who taught their grandparents.  Note that this listing contains entries from as far back as 1867 and may take some time to load.

For Sale / Wanted / Events / Convicts & Deserters
« on: Tuesday 31 May 16 00:32 BST (UK)  »
Good Morning,
Some time ago I commenced a project of extracting from the Government Gazette and other sources the names of convicts who had had their ticket of leave (tol) cancelled for various reasons as against existing sources that just listed the granting of tol. At the same time I noticed that there was also information available concerning soldiers who had deserted.

I did enter over 1000 names together with the details such as age, ship of arrival, native place, occupation, date and place of enlistment and the description of the ‘offenders’. In the process however, I found that the information had been gathered by others so rather than duplicate what had already been done I did not proceed with the project.

I still have the data and if it may be of interest to you follow this link  http://bit.ly/22uGz1a

I also hold scanned copies from the Government Gazette of all the entries
