Thank you for this Margaret. It is distinctly possible.
I thought there would be a lot of them (William/John combinations)
if this is the only one then it is likely. and if it is then I have a number of people to document. My father used to say that his grandfather (JM) had a brother in Neath.
I am also tickled to see there is a Morgan Morgan. In a different branch of my tree I have an Evan Evans

thank you again for your help

Glamorganshire Completed Lookups / John Morgan 1871 Census lookup request
« on: Tuesday 15 March 11 13:28 GMT (UK)  »
I am currently researching my Grandmother's line, and am trying to identify my Great Grandfather John Morgan in the 1871 census .
I have found him in 1881 aged 24 where he is already married,  located in Michaelstone Lower, Aberavon
In 1891 he is in Pwll y Glaw with his family, including my grandmother Lowry Myfanwy Morgan aged 2months.
so i really need to find him in 1871 aged about 14. All i know is that his father from his marriage certificate is William Morgan, and he was born (according to the 1891 census) in Cwmavon.
can anybody help?
it isn't a lot to go on, anything gratefully received

Say Something in Welsh is fantastic, but is not based on Michel Thomas, although has some link, but also Pimsleur, and other Welsh courses e.g. Colloquial Welsh, in other words it is not based on any one course, but is an amalgam of what works from a number of sources

thanks anyway Phil. it is a long story. He joined to look after his wife's younger brother. They were both Welsh speaking  Welshmen, so it is puzzling.
when he got to France his brother in law was already dead. But seeems to have left LS anyway. Looks like he died as a member of the London rifle Brigade (17th)
his name was Eddie Samuel Morgan, and was the subject of a different thread.
