Are you still searching for Elizabeth and Samuel Calbeck's children?

I am yes.. Do you have any information?

Thank you!

Ireland / King's Inn Admission Papers - question
« on: Friday 02 July 10 17:13 BST (UK)  »
Good day,

I borrowed a copy of the King's Inn book trying to trace the lineage of my ancestor, Mr. Phillips Callbeck.  On my search, I believe I found him (though listed as Philip Callbeck), but instead of showing his parentage, it only showed that he was an attorney, and the following notation "T 1766".  The abbreviations list in the book states that "T" denotes Trinity Term.

Therefore, would T 1766 denote the completion of Trinity Term in 1766?  If so, would that be the year he completed his schooling?  I am assuming this would be at Trinity College - but is that necessarily the case?

Thank you for any and all help you may provide.

Cheers!

Dublin / George Phillips (b. ~1689)
« on: Thursday 22 April 10 20:39 BST (UK)  »
I am following a hunch here.  Has anyone came across any information regarding Mr. George Phillips (born about 1689, died 1732) who was married to Jane Phillips (b. about 1689 and died 1762).  They had a daughter, Elizabeth (Eliza?) born about 1720 and died in 1768.  She was married to a Samuel Callbeck.

What I am looking for is if Elizabeth and Samuel had any children.    Also, any historical information on Samuel, or the Philips family previous to George.  I have not been able to find same, and was hoping someone may find these names trigger a memory or a name they may have come across at one time.

I have done an exhaustive search, and the best I could find was a grave marker in Rathfarnham which gave me the above information (http://www.ancestryireland.com/fileadmin/uhf_pdfs/Familia_pdfs/Familia_1985/Some_old_Dublin_cemeteries_and_burial_practices.pdf - Page 7).  The LDS search on www.familysearch.org yielded no additional information.

Thank you in advance for any ideas, information to thoughts to the above.

Cheers!

Dublin / Trinity College Alumni lookup request Phillips Callbeck b. 1743-ish
« on: Monday 22 March 10 23:04 GMT (UK)  »
As I noted an earlier request for same, I was hoping someone might be able to do a quick look for me.  My ancestor Philips (or Phillips) Callbeck (also spelled Calbeck) is thought to have been born and educated in Dublin before emigrating to Canada c. 1770's.  He was a lawyer, and I am hoping (if the stars were to align) that his name would show in the alumni book, potentially with further information (parents, location of birth, etc).

Could I humbly request someone to please look this up if they can?

Kindest regards...

Ah well...  thought I'd check.  Don't suppose there'd be school records from back then - if indeed he was schooled in Dublin, he would've gone to Trinity College...  any thoughts?

Kris,

Thank you - that makes sense.. One of Phillips' children with wife Anne Coffin was a daughter Ann Callbeck, who I have it written as was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (no birth date listed) and died in Halifax, Sept 19, 1853.

And yes, I also posted this n the Irish boards to cross list, to see if family tradition may or may not be correct...

Cheers!

Thank you yes - I am "playing both sides" in case the family tradition is correct or not in this case...   :)

Somerset / Phillips Callbeck or Callbeck
« on: Friday 19 March 10 21:28 GMT (UK)  »
Good day all,

I am trying to track down information (birth place and parentage) of a Mr. Phillips Callbeck (or possibly Calbeck), born c. 1744, died 1790.

Family tradition has that he was born and educated in Dublin and emigrated to Canada around 1770.  However, I have seen some articles which list Bath as his place of birth.

If anyone is familiar with this surname (or even this fellow), I would be most appreciative.  It is my hope to trace my family roots further back past this fellow, which would take me out of Canada.

Thank you,

-C
