Hi Dawn
Joseph named his father as Samuel in 1849 when he married Elizabeth Hollingsworth. I did try to find out about Joseph in 2010 but have been tracing other members of my family since then. Have you any suggestions where to look?

Maureen

Hi

I am trying to find the birth place of Joseph Ellis who was my 3 x gt grandfather.

The census records show:

1841 census Pipers Row, Wolverhampton, birthplace Staffordshire
1851 census 30 Pipers Row, Wolverhampton, birthplace Staffordshire Stafford
1861 census Pipers Row, Wolverhampton, birthplace Wolverhampton
1871 census Pipers Row, Wolverhampton, birthplace Routon, Staffordshire

His occupation is recorded as bootmaker/cordwainer.

He married his first wife, Dinah Tibbets, on 19 Sept 1814 at All Saints Church in Sedgley.
According to his marriage cert with his second wife, Elizabeth Hollingworth, his father was Samuel Ellis, cordwainer.

I have been to both Dudley and Wolverhampton Archives to look for a baptism for Joseph but have not been successful.

If anyone can offer any help as to where to look next, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I'm looking for info on the date and place of birth of JOSEPH ELLIS. he died in Wolverhampton in 1872 aged 82 years.
The 4 census returns show that he was born in Staffordshire, Stafford, Routon or Wolverhampton.
He married Dinah Tibbet at Sedgley Parish Church in 1814.
He was a cordwainer and his father was believed to have been Samuel Ellis.
Joseph married for a second time in 1849 to a widow Elizabeth Hollinsworth.
